I am with you on The Big Short GOAT status. Entertaining, informative, great performances, re-watchableâŚeverything that I want from a movie. Vice, I loved in itâs own way and your criticism of it is on point imo. Bale and Adams and Rockwell were fantastic. Itâs hard for me to judge because I was amped up to go see it in the theater, and it didnât hit my high expectations. I went into it expecting an 11/10, and it was probably a 7/10. Iâd rather think Iâm about to see a 4/10 movie and then be pleasantly surprised by a 7/10.
Thatâs a great way to put it. I also went in expecting another Big Short and have had the balls to say it sucked because it was merely pretty good instead of perfect lol
Did anyone see The Campaign? Jay Roach directed it, but Ferrell stars (alongside Zach Galifinakis) and Ferrell/McKay produced it I think. We watched it a couple months ago-- pretty darn funny; not sure why it seemed to go so unnoticed.
The last episode of the season was really good too. The show definitely hits its stride after spending several episodes in âmildly amusingâ territory.
I saw it, but my strat with all comedies isâŚI get really high, so I can enjoy it a second time like itâs the first time. I remember liking it, but none of the details.
Song Exploder is new show on Netflix
First ep is about Losing My Religion, with long interviews of all band members
As a huge R.E.M. fan I am loving this
Thatâs weird, in Canada the Losing my Religion episode is listed as the third episode.
Keys, Lin Manuel, REM, Ty Dolla being the order.
Is there a better drug movie than Blow? Outstanding performances from Captain Jack and Pee-Wee. It starts off as so much fun. One joint two joint three joint COCAINE.
American Gangster is on Blowâs level imo.
Something weird happened to my Netflix when I tried to play this, so possible it is the third episode here too. But first one Iâm seeing!
It was so awesome that about halfway through the episode I started dreading some sort of reset button being pushed.
I forgot about that one! I donât think Iâve seen it since it came out.
If youâre looking for a not fun drug movie there is always Requiem for a DreamâŚ
The Directors cut of Requiem is especially gut wrenching. 5/5 stars, but makes you sick to your stomach.
5 out of 5 tourniquets
Blow also has the most terrifying to date performance of Pablo Escobar
That movie is sort of fun for about thirty minutesâŚ
Herzog is kinda a crazy dude. These days he mostly makes documentaries, but earlier in his career he made some movie about a guy who was trying to put on an opera in the South American rainforest. And for some reason this invoked hauling a steamship over a mountain in the jungle. So to make the movies, he actually had a crew of locals haul a fucking steamship on land through a fucking jungle.
