The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Have we talked about “The Report” here? I think Adam Driver is a great actor. He needs a studio movie that isn’t Star Wars and he’ll get his Oscar.

Does anyone watch TV on a projector? I probably can’t spend two hundred bucks and have a 100 inch TV, right?

i used to and i like a regular TVs better. the room needs to be very dark and even then you’ve got a sharpness issue. this was years ago, maybe they’re better now.

one night i played an xbox racing game on drugs with the projector screen and it was a lot of fun.

another thing you gotta think of is the bulb gets dim after like 1000 or 2000 hours, so you gotta buy a replacement bulb. it wasn’t terrible or anything. i think if i had a huge open wall i would consider getting a projector again. but for up to $1000 i wouldn’t expect it be a sharp image at 100", but maybe there was a leap in technology since i looked last (years ago)

Cool, thanks. That’s kinda what I figured.

Betting odds currently have him second this year for Marriage Story behind Joaquin Phoenix

It’s been clear that he was a terrific actor since his Girls days. Convincingly pretending to be attracted to Lena Dunham? Now that’s acting!

Lena Dunham is so terrible though. She gets rid of then gets a new pet like once a year and the Odell Beckham thing was sooooo cringeworthy.

have to give her credit though, Girls was a great show.

Agree on the sex scene. I think it gave me ED.

The movie itself wasn’t bad at all. Just was largely forgettable. Too much story to cram into one movie imo. Bet the TV series will be way better.

For real. She was just using him to create controversy and make herself relevant again. OBJ was smart not to take the bait.

Snyder completely missed the entire point of the graphic novel. Based on his body of work he doesn’t seem too bright but to completely miss any subtext in a work that is entirely subtext takes an impressively shallow reading. It’s like thinking the story of the tortoise and the hare is about the between species differences in energy efficiency.

I actually thought her ODB comments were pretty funny.

I was sitting next to Odell Beckham Jr., and it was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards. ‘He was like, “That’s a marshmallow. That’s a child. That’s a dog.” It wasn’t mean — he just seemed confused. The vibe was very much like, “Do I want to f*** it? Is it wearing a … yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo. I’m going to go back to my cell phone.” It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. I was like, “This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.”

That’s pretty funny imo and I’m sure it’s exaggerated but of course 23 year old NFL superstars generally aren’t going to comfortably interact with Lena Dunham at a Met gala. And she’s obviously saying more about her own insecurities and neuroticism than she’s saying anything about Odell.

The Watchmen is a weird thing to get snobby over. It’s a fine movie.

Girls was an adolescent school girl fantasty from someone with the imagination of a person with a profound intellectual disability. Only it wasn’t sweet or warm or loving or interesting like those people often are. It was pseudo intellectual hot garbage that said nothing about identity or longing or belonging or relationships or anything else people read into it bc they were so desperate to find meaning in this very regular and unremarkable woman being rescued by a shirtless Adam Driver.

Disney+ has neither the Star Wars Christmas Special nor the Ewoks movie with Wilford Brimley, I am going to write them a nasty letter. How is it they have direct-to-video trash like The Little Mermaid II and Santa Clause III but they’re afraid to give us these masterpieces of made-for-tv garbage pop culture? Listen, the Ewoks movie is better than any of the prequels.

I hate how Disney is holding out on the really dank content they have in their vaults.I understand why they don’t want to release all the racist shit, but you gotta hand over the Wilford Brimley content or else what is the point.

Continuing my HBO binge, Danny Mcbride has one comedic gear, no? Vice Principles, The Rightous Gemstones, and Eastbound and Down all have him with the nearly the exact comedic affect and the general situations are similar.

Don’t get me wrong I like the shows and I’ll watch them, it just struck me now nearly identical they were.

If you do something historically great no need to change

Ok remember when I said I’m not sure if I’d call Watchmen a great show? Scratch that. These last four episodes have been just amazing. Seems like there’s a lot to tie up in the last episode though.
