Nice. I showed the trailer to my spouse last night and she said she’s glad we like to watch some things on our own. Womp womp lol. Well at least me and the chocolate biscuit will be watching.
I liked both of them, but they’re totally different ideas. Knives Out is a big-budget comedy/mystery that’s based on cozy British murder mysteries. Brick is an indie movie that’s a gritty film-noir detective story, only the characters are all high school students. I haven’t seen Brick in a while, I should give that a re-watch. Knives Out is a must-watch, Brick is like maybe see it if the concept sounds interesting and you like detective stories.
I’ve been going through the Brother Cadfael mysteries. It’s amazing how cliche cozy mysteries are no matter how you change the setting. I give it a gentleman’s B only because Derek Jacobi is always great.
I feel that way more so about Brothers Bloom. I mean it’s fun and it’s got that snappy Rian Johnson dialogue, and lol great twists, but I saw it once and only sort of liked it, whereas I could watch Johnson’s recent thriller stories like Looper and Knives Out over and over again.
About halfway through series 2 I was thinking there’s no way in hell this has a satisfying ending, these type of shows never do but the ride is worth it. And then it did have a satisfying ending. Such a pleasant surprise to watch a show that has clearly prewritten all 3 series and doesn’t try to hang on past it’s appropriate end point. Please take notes JJ Abrams. Unless someone is about to tell me about Dark season 4 coming soon in which case I will pretend not to have heard about it.
I like how Cadfael is supposed to be a master herbalist but literally the only medicine he ever gives anyone in that show is opium, like okay there, Brother Sackler.
Holy shit. My wife and I just watched the second episode of Narcos Season 3. Season 3.
She paused it after a few minutes because she was confused about something that was going on. Ok, that’s fine. It can get a little complicated. Her confusion stemmed from her thinking that “Cali” was California.
Man, I’m watching deep-cut episodes of the Twilight Zone (as one does) and there’s a very young Dennis Hopper playing the role of an alt-right Naz dipshiti. This show continues to amaze me. Young Hopper as an angry confused boogaloo boy is outstanding.
Hulu appears to do the thing where commercials are 2x the volume of the show and good lord it’s infuriating.
I’m borderline obsessed with Elle Fanning’s perpetually dilated pupils. Once I noticed them I can’t not notice them. I Googled it and people have noticed it earlier in other stuff.
I didn’t realize this, but David Mitchell (author of Cloud Atlas) is the co-writer for The Matrix 4. I am very excited.
The narrative “was all about the desire for transformation, but it was all coming from a closeted point of view,” Lilly said, confirming fan theories.
The fourth Matrix film will see Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss , and Jada Pinkett Smith return to the fold, alongside franchise newcomers like Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff , and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. ( Laurence Fishburne , who played Morpheus, told Vulture he would not be joining the cast.) “The writers [ David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon ] and the director [Lana] have come up with a beautiful, beautiful story,” Reeves told Variety. “It’s really thrilling to be making a Matrix movie.”
