I watched the pilot and it was all right but I think maybe it reminded me too much of my actual job. I really like the talent behind and on camera, though, so I might get back to giving it a shot.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL
THE LAST DANCE IS NOW STREAMING ON NETFLIX
Edit: lol I uploaded the wrong gif
Wasnāt this the case months ago?
Not for USAnians. Had to have a cable subscription.
Cloud Atlas is one of the most perfect imperfect movies. Some cringe-inducing stuff from the first to last scene, but it is marvelous and touches on the fluidity of gender, orientation, and identity that the Wachowski siblings in hindsight were exploring all along.
Itās very good and very sad and about to get way sadder Iām afraid
Also if yāall arenāt watching Perry Mason which airs right before it, and apparently you are not judging by the lack of chatter itt, you are missing out on some of the best detective drama since season 1 of True Detective imho
I quite enjoyed the book, read it on a beach vacation a few years back.
I watched the first episode, which seemed fine, but Iām all OK so when does Perry get into the courtroom? Wait heās not a lawyer with a talent for getting the real killer to confess on the stand? Heās a PTSD-suffering private detective? The fuck? I was just confused.
Like if you want to make a gritty 1920s TV noir detective miniseries, just do it? Why try to shoehorn Perry Mason into it? Or at least make Perry a side character and have his PI be the main character. But is HBOās 2020 audience really clamoring for a fuckin Perry Mason reboot? Just totally mystifying branding and marketing.
I skimmed over it shortly after seeing the movie but never made time to appreciate it as it deserves. I appreciate you mentioning how much you enjoyed it. I will add it back to the list
Did you see the movie, too? What did you think of the adaptation choices?
I didnāt watch the movie, it seemed likely to disappoint.
Iād give it another shot. Itās an origin story that reveals how and why he becomes a lawyer, and, the season isnāt over yet, but I think itās building up to the big āMason Moment.ā Sure, itās tonally different from the original, but itās making connections while telling a pretty intriguing crime story.
Itās pretty good! The New Seoul narrative is like an episode of Black Mirror. But perhaps Iād be similarly uninterested if Iād already read the book.
Itās a prequel to Perryās story from the 50ās-60ās. He eventually levels up and becomes a Lawyer (not really a spoiler so not putting that in spoilers sorry not sorry). Keep watching it pays off.
Did you happen to catch Matthew Rhys on āFresh Airā with Terry Gross this past week? Iāve never heard him talk before lol dude is WELSH
I didnāt catch that interview, but Iāve watched The Wine Show (where he and Matthew Goode just visit vineyards, get tipsy and talk story), so Iām pretty familiar with his true nature :)
I think earlier in this thread we discussed all the mind-blowing discoveries of American roles played by British actors.
Iām gonna check out Perry Mason just because I heard eventually Tatiana Maslany shows up.
No way! Now Iāve gotta watch too. Loved her narration for the re-release of the Hunger Games audiobook.
How many characters does she play?
This guy
is probably a clone
