The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

An Australian documentary airing on 30 for 30 - about a really grim instance of racial vilification in Australia. Highly recommend if anyone wants a somewhat unuanced view on fairly widespread racism in Australia.

So itā€™s like a family version of Wipeout.

Is that about Futurama?

Hannibal is now on Netflix. Mads is my hands down #1 portrayal of Dr. Lecter. That show is nutty AF and I canā€™t believe it was on NETWORK TV. The cooking scenes are pornographic and the leads are great. Kinda reminiscent of X-Files where it alternates between procedural case-o-the-week episodes and the (better) overarching storyline episodes. Speaking of, the guest stars are pretty impressive as well (including Scully and Eddie Izzard).

I always wished they had gotten more than 3 seasons when it aired. I could watch Mads do this forever.

Iā€™d forgotten all about that show. I loved the first 2 seasons but I never watched the third and I canā€™t remember why. Does the third season hold up?

Its a bit truncated because they had plans to do more so kind of rushed a finale path but its still great.

Watched ep1 of Dark last night. B-movie quality in some ways, but I can usually let that slide for sci-fi and fantasy stuff. Definitely entertaining. Will be watching more.

I think I stopped watching in season 2 or 3 because it just got too crazy/messy Like they tried super hard to be artsy but I thought it was bad, Iā€™ll probably give it another shot though. Completely agree Mads absolutely crushes as Dr, Lecter.

Excellent - Iā€™ll add it to my list. I hate watching things when I donā€™t think they are going to spot the landing. First two series were astonishing television

The third season shifts into what seems like a very, very different approach, but then quickly becomes the Hannibal show we remember.

Itā€™s just that seasons 1+2 are essentially one storyline with an insane resolution. Season 3 starts kind of a new storyline. I found myself struggling to continue there too, but I watched it finally a few months ago and DAMN. Six seasons and movie pleeeeeeeeeeease.

Anyone who hasnā€™t seen it should definitely try season 1. Wow is that an amazing show.

Yea I just finished season 2 on this rewatch. Season 3 is still good IIRC, but the finale of 2 is probably the peak of the show.

There was talk for a while about Netflix or Amazon continuing the series.

I remember that. I wish it had happened.

Instead we are getting Clarice. Not a continuation of Hannibal despite the foreshadowing of S3. The creators description sounds like it will be a sequel to Silence/Hannibal (the movie) that begins with Clarice revisiting what happened in her life before those stories.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has scrapped all the episodes already written for next season. It sounds like they are talking about going in a new direction that addresses current events. If any show can do that and still be funny, itā€™s B99.

is the first season good?

First season was great. One or two just okay episodes, but all of it worth watching.

duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, S2E1 was great

I LOVED IT. Every twist and turn was delightful.

In the first few minutes, I would have been down for the episode to only be about stupid dating dynamics with neckbeards. But the Twilight Zone isnā€™t going to stop thereā€¦

Are you going back for season 1? I will be blazing through season 2 since they dropped all of the episodes at once this time, then season 1 is back on the menu.

Yea iā€™ll get the trial i guess and watch em. I love black mirror, which i get isnā€™t the same, but its pretty close.
