The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

even though mad men is only available for 2 more weeks, i watched every episode of Schit$ Creek. eugene levy was the best part, but there’s not enough of him. i would never rewatch this show, but what kept me watching was that the daughter was super hot and every episode would have her in a great new outfit.

Any Terrace House fans on here?

There’s an announcement in Japan that one of the current cast members, Hana (the professional wrestler), has suddenly passed away.

Details are unknown at this point, although evidence from her SNS activity points toward suicide

R.I.P.

Anyone know if the original Twilight Zone is on Netflix?

https://www.netflix.com/title/70172488?s=a&trkid=13747225&t=cp

Thanks. As I thought, it doesn’t seem to be available in the lolUK.

Shoot. Sorry to hear that.

Have you signed up yet for a CBS All Access trial? Temporary but would give you brief access.

Any good special features?

Rewatched Before Midnight on IMDBfree. Man that trilogy is GOAT. Jesse and Celine bottle everything up and then explode every six years. A pleasure to get such a view for that couple’s transitionary stages for a (so far) lifelong relationship.

I like to think that Richard Linklater not making a new one at the most recent six-year mark means Jesse and Celine are doing okay this time. But I’m still crossing my fingers we see them again after another six.

Totally agree. It’s hands down my favourite film series ever. Before Sunset is my favourite film, has my favourite film moment (the almost touch) and my favourite ending. I’ve seen them all so many times.

P.S. it’s every nine years. 2022 is the next one (hopefully).

It’s on hulu

Devs was ok. Written and directed by the dude who did Ex Machina, it’s another sci fi story with a hyper skinny female (yet sightly androgenous) lead who spends more than a significant amount of screen time in her underwear.

The story is murder mystery meets international corporate espionage meets multiverse meets a dead daughter. It’s beautiful to look at - San Francisco has never looked as sublime as it does here - and there are a number of interesting characters including the bearded Elon Musk/Bill Gates/Mark Zuckerberg genius scientist corporate overlord oldbro even though he ultimately doesn’t seem capable of being the guy who created the space where the show operates.

And the ending is just bonkers. I’ll be there for season 2 if they ever do it, but I don’t care enough to look up if they are.

My understanding is those 8 eps is all there will ever be. Which makes sense because things were pretty well tied up at the end.

Works for me

I finally finished my (4th? 5th?) rewatch of Mad Men since it’s leaving Netflix next month. Having finished it so close to The Wire and Sopranos I think I can firmly say it’s clearly ahead of Sopranos, but behind Breaking Bad and The Wire (although I need to do a BrBa rewatch).

Don / Dick is such an irredeemable piece of shit 99% of the time, but damn if this scene doesn’t kick you right in the gut.

If D&D didn’t shit their pants at the finish line, I think GoT could have held the top spot. It’s truly incredible that in the midst of everyone rewatching series not a single person I know is watching GoT.

I guess I rank it The Wire = Breaking Bad > Mad Men >> Sopranos.

The Americans>GoT>Battlestar Galactica. ETA The Leftovers

Season 1 of True Detective is pantheon quality. As is season 1 of Homeland. Guess I’ll watch the final season of Homeland now.

I enjoyed episode two much more. I’m now plot committed for at least the duration of season one.
