The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

On April 9, 2020, McElhenney announced that writing had begun for the show’s 15th season and was being held in quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ah…writing. That makes more sense. Still wonder when they’ll be able to film. Seems like…a while.

Agree, though if anyone were going to find a way to make home movie production quality done from independent locations into something hilarious and among their best seasons of all time, I trust these guys to do it.

Any fans of the show “Billions”? I liked the first four seasons but i’m pretty much meh on all the plot lines for season 5. The new villain seems completely fabricated. I hope it picks up soon or I will have to consign season 5 to the dustbin of history.

I love it but this season has sucked so far. It’s too contrived.

The wife and I have subtitles on 100% of the time. Neither of us are hard of hearing. The poll is assuming the language of the show/movie you’re watching is in your primary language (obv you have subtitles on if it’s in a different language).

Also I’ve never done a poll before and I’m on mobile so sorry if I arsed it.

I should have subtitles on but I’m too lazy to do it

Same. Neither of us are hard of hearing but with kids in the house we learned to watch things at lower volumes with the subtitles on and its just kind of stuck since then

I can’t stand subtitles for English dialog.

But I hate dubbing for non-English dialog even more than I hate subtitles and basically find dubbed movies unwatchable.

Dubbed movies are obviously terrible. Subtitles are better but I’d rather just watch something in English. Luckily there’s plenty out there.

I thought it would be 30-1 against subtitles. What is wrong with you people.

Yeah, I thought I would be the lone freak on that. Still a freak, not as lonely. I started using subtitles with Peaky Blinders and never looked back. Reminds me of European Vacation when Chevy Chase is talking to the Cockney hotel clerk and pulls out a translator device, lol.

Subtitles for anything with an accent or people that talk too fast. And jeopardy.
But not stand up or comedy in general.

I use subtitles most of the time because years of concerts destroyed my hearing, but I still turn them off for standup specials for this reason.

I Claudius [/quote]

I’ve finally finished watching all 12 episodes of I, Claudius, and I’ve now immediately started re-watching the entire series, which I something I’ve never done before with any show. I, Claudius is 1976 BBC drama about the downfall of the Roman republic featuring phenomenal Shakespearean actors and hilariously terrible production values. If you happen to live in a once-admired republic with respected norms that has been debased by cruel sociopathic leaders, I strongly recommend it.

Also, there is an associated podcast where you can listen to two middle-aged white guys talking about a BBC show from the 1970’s starring a bunch of middle-aged white guys.

You can find I, Claudius on Acorn TV or Amazon Prime maybe or you can just steal it.

If you’re not subtitling (am I doing this right?), you’re missing out on some really interestIng films.

Apparently 100mg of edible ruined Marty’s good taste :sob:

You’ll prob dig recent seasons. It’s a slow build but gets to a fevered pitch lately. Madness and crime and death to rival BB. Stay the course!!!11!
