Arrival was pretty good but I’m putting that mostly on Amy Adams and the incredibly good source material,
Dude man, you gotta give some legit respect for the people adapting that. I mean Amy Adams A+, source A+. But that is a bitch to adapt to screen and they did a hell of a job.
been watching the second season of After Life that just arrived a week or two back. Loved the first season and second is great too, I’m a terrible judge of acting but feel like Ricky Gervais does a great job in it.
Arrival was maybe the Villaneuve movie I’ve enjoyed the least. But Prisoners->Enemy->Sicario->Arrival->Blade Runner 2049 is an amazing run.
“The Assistant” is great. Maybe its just because I had that job back in the day, but I absolutely loved every second.
lol i confused this with the maggie gyllenhall movie The Secretary for a moment and had to google it
First episode of The Great on Hulu was good. Same guy who wrote The Favourite (which, like this, stars Nicholas Hoult). Period pieces aren’t typically my thing but this guy knows how to write them in a way that keeps the story consistently moving along. Plus it’s pretty funny.
i liked it and would give it a solid 3 bags of popcorn but it’s aggressively a girl show. like there aren’t any guy characters that aren’t idiots
Wait until you see them promoted in The Accountant
So I’ve tried at least three times to watch The Shield to conclusion and failed. Am currently on another try and at about the point I always give up which is the end of S2. Does it get better? I feel like all of the characters are super one dimensional and lacking in any ability to make me care about any of them. You have the crooked cops, the politically aspiring chief, the dorky detective, the hardcore black female detective, the closeted gay cop, etc. The show is super stereotypical and while I like the show to some extent as it can be entertaining I always get bored and never plow through it.
So should I keep going or is this all it ever is?
i made it 3 seasons i think but i doubt it ever changes, certainly the same through 3. it is what it is.
This pandemic is the gift that keeps on giving

Gotta think the studio being starved for new content had something to do with this. Well, whatever the circumstances, hooray!
I agree with you, I never liked The Shield.
I couldn’t get into it either.
Didn’t some people on here list The Shield as one of their top shows? Show yourself and give me your best pitch on why I should finish this time. In some ways I just want to finish it so in another 5 years I am not rewatching the same first two seasons before quitting.
Can’t I get the same thing but better from Damages?
CCH Pounder does some good yelling.
CCH Pounder is an elite name as well.
Sure, but I struggle to get into Shield even for Glenn Close, whereas you could put Damages on rerun and I’ll jump in on any episode. Plus Rose Byrne
Also from my extensive research involving reading Peter III’s Wikipedia, there’s a heavy emphasis on the occasionally true story part. Peter was emperor for like 6 months before Catherine deposed him, and he didn’t seem like that bad of a ruler, all things considered.
