I finished S1 of Dark a long time ago and now I’m worried that I won’t remember all the characters and what’s going on if I start up S2. I need a Cliff’s Notes for this show.
Toast of London on netflix is great. i watched all 3 seasons in a day and i’m mad there isn’t more.

If you’re using Netflix, if you click “more episodes” there should be a “Season 1 Recap”. There was a big gap between season 1 and 2 and I found it helpful.
@beetlejuice Do you watch 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days? There are so many spinoffs that are like 90% old content I’ve been in the habit of ignoring them, but this is like full length new content stuff. As the name implies it follows people who you might be seeing in future 90DF seasons, only before the 90 day visa starts. It can be more interesting because there’s more variety in the types of relationships. Some are serious, some are clearly not even real. Anyway, the current season is the most epic of all 90DF seasons. Just when you think things couldn’t get any wilder, they hit you with another shocker. Must watch.
It’s a slow warm-up but still a incredibly good watch.
I’ve not seen El camino yet
Needed something light a fun so started streaming New Girl. It’s so fun. Rare show that makes you actually laugh out loud.
Ulrich and of course Mikkel as a child.
I like the medical examiner who chit chats about his wife’s meatballs while hacking through a sheep’s head and carving out chunks of brain.
Has anyone else gotten stoned out of their mind and watched Devs? That show freaked me the fuck out. Maybe I should page Marty in here.
I know it’s been mentioned here, but my parents have been recommending Schitt’s Creek for years and while I knew of it from the start, I never got around to watching. My wife and I finally started to binge watch it and we’re on the final season.
It’s really, really good. It’s not constantly, uproariously funny, but it’s consistently funny. Part way between a good network sitcom and a top-tier HBO comedy, closer to the latter. What gets me laughing out loud the most are some of the ways Moira talks and lots of David’s reactions.
And it really does handle LGBTQ characters extremely well (which I would expect, considering who created it). The characters are funny, but not cartoony. They and their relationships/issues are presented just like anyone else’s and with natural, cleverly-written humor that’s not demeaning. Really, really well done.
I love Bob, too.
We started watching Schitt’s Creek but put it down for a bit when we discovered Letterkenny, which is constantly, uproariously funny.
I’m always smiling during Schitt’s Creek, just not crying of laughter. Like I said, though, there are several times an episode where I literally lol, usually because of Moira and David. And it balances the humor well with touching emotion.
yeah, I didn’t dislike it, and there were some parts in the episodes I saw that I thought were very funny (Moira’s wine commercial still stands out in my memory). I just wanted to remind people that Letterkenny is really, really funny.
Watched all of devs, really wanted to like it, but they didn’t stick the landing at all and ugh. Everyone including offerman’s wig designer could have done better.
Made it through about 4 and the wife and looked at each and was like “yeah this is show about terrible people that I hate” and gave up IDK I’d assume it gets “better” but w/e don’t have the patience for it. Um ask me again in 4 more months of pandemic.
Catherine O’Hara was on Conan’s podcast recently (+Eugene Levy) and she discussed the origins of Moira’s accent.
And while we’re recommending other shows similar to SC, I have to mention You’re the Worst again. It was highly recommended earlier ITT which was somehow the first I’d ever heard of it. Finished a few days ago and can confirm it does not disappoint. It’s similar to SC in that a lot of the value is in getting to know the absolutely brilliant characters, with season and series long story arcs. The characters are all early adults and the funny bits hit harder though, it’s more like the other FX comedy Always Sunny in that way, but YTW takes itself much more seriously at times so I don’t want to draw too many Always Sunny comparisons beyond that.
Gonna add Letterkemny to my list now too.
I get it. I was just telling my wife tonight that while I love David as a character, I probably couldn’t stand him in real life. But that’s the point - they are awful people in the beginning of the series. They evolve, even if they do keep some of their snobby traits.
I just do not get the love for this show. Several people with good taste have recommended it lately so maybe the problem is me, but it just seems like the dumbest, broadest, most predictable sit com snooze fest of recent memory.
I should add that one thing that I love about Schitt’s Creek is that it has pretty much introduced a new generation to Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, two comedic actors who I feel have been underappreciated.
Fuck yeah! Glad you liked it
