The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Yeah, with Jemaine Clement and Takia Watiti. 2014 I think.

(I have been told you don’t need to see the movie to get the show. Also, Matt Berry is great; check out Toast of London on Netflix.)

matt berry IS great in this show. all the actors are great

do you know where the movie is available to stream?

Yah Walter White being a compelling character is one thing, saying he’s likable is another. Audiences can’t help but love a proactive character’s ingenuity. It’s in part why audiences hated Skylar. She was standing in the way of their favorite character. They had to either admit Walter was the bad guy (and Skylar SHOULD be trying to stop him) or decide Skylar was the villain.

Not seeing it on any subscription streaming services, aside from something called Kanopy?

Aside from that, for rent at all the usual haunts.

I heard her on a podcast the other day with Bobby lee and they talked about this. He said he gets called Dr. Ken (seems racist), and she gets Chelsea all the time. She even riffed on it a bit talking about the people recognize her from something but then place her as a completely different celebrity and not some other random person.

It is a weird idea if you ponder it. Celebrities being mistaken for each other. While I can see the similarities between the two, I could still tell them apart and if I had only ever seen one of them I don’t think I would see the other for the first time and be confused.

Perhaps it just exposes a little hitch in the human brain and how we process information. We are always trying to connect things to what we know so when presented with something we recognize, our brains go into over drive trying to place it.

Marksman gets ponderous on Friday night. I like it.

Kanopy is a free streaming service for library members. I used it to watch Hereditary and some Criterion stuff. The catalog seems to be geared towards art house, documentary, foreign, etc.

Makes sense. What we do in the shadows is very artsy

I think so. It’s not really horror and I wouldn’t use horror to describe it. More like science fiction mystery thriller or something. It is German though so if you don’t speak German you should use subtitles. I know using subtitles might be turn people off but it’s still great even with subtitles.

I enjoyed the first season of F is for Family, but it was tailing off at the end. I think I watched one and a half episodes from season 2 and turned it off. I think that the concept had enough gas for like one 8 episode season.

I watched the first episode last night, liked it quite a bit. Interested to see where its going.

Everyone should watch Solar Opposites. And by that I mean, everyone should fast forward every part of the show that doesn’t feature characters that are less than than one inch tall.

Thanks. I’m a strange person that always watches with subtitles, even in English, so no issue there. I’ll check it out.

It’s perfectly in line with the type of humor I’d expect from Jemaine Clement.

I’d totally recommend Flight of the Conchords if you haven’t seen that.

Gonna go check out this Dark show that people have been discussing lately.

Will report back in an hour.

That was definitely different. I’m intrigued.

Haha, same. My wife’s hearing is a little off, so we use subtitles. Otherwise we have to crank the TV volume up to movie theater levels to watch TV together.

Who’s everyone’s favorite character in Dark? Its a toss up between the really severe German person and the eurotrash child for me.
