It’s funny early on in the primary season I think a large portion of Unstuck was confident there would be no debates, because Trump wouldn’t want to debate. Now, I think it’s actually flipped. Trump would absolutely destroy Biden in a debate, he would just keep making fun of his inability to form a coherent thought. Now it’s Biden that the debates will hurt. Seems like he might want to skip the debates.

Wow, that’s massively stupid. It plays right into the narrative Trump is selling to depress turnout in the general among Bernie supporters, and it protects Biden from having to have a real debate before the general. Wow.
Yeah but Biden has gotten away with not finishing his incoherent thoughts under the guise of running out of time, or with talking like 15 minutes in a 2 or 3 hour debate because there were so many people on the stage.
Forget the style of Trump’s debating, Biden won’t even be ready for the format.
Yup, totally agree. I also thought Biden had no shot at the nomination. I didn’t think he’d get to South Carolina. I thought for sure one of the other establishment types would get more momentum - Harris, Beto, Booker… But here we are.
Moral of the story: it’s really hard to gather momentum as an establishment candidate when there are like 15 establishment candidates in the race, because the donors are largely waiting for the field to narrow. To use a poker analogy, a lot of them basically blinded out.
Biden sat on the chip lead from 2 tables down to like six handed, got passed, then had like three fish punt him their stacks down the stretch to get the three handed chip lead, then the third place stack basically blinded off letting Biden apply massive ICM pressure to second place and build a commanding lead going into heads up.
Now instead of playing hands, he’s tanking and stalling to get the blinds up to reduce the skill and just realize the equity of his chip lead.
I’m not sure whether it was brilliant political strategy or insanely lucky.
I’ll tell you what, running Biden would almost be worth it if he said that to Trump during a debate. Almost.
How much did Warren help Biden by so totally eviscerating Bloomberg that he no longer looked an option for the establishment, so they felt they had no choice to coalesce behind Biden?
