Only reason I even know about that was seeing it on Midnight Sumo’s intermission on Twitch. Took a fair amount of searching in English to come up with it. Seems like a really old game? The only way I could possibly imagine coming up with this game idea would be playing G1 Jockey and Street Fighter on acid.

Don’t think there’s a way to even buy this straight up in North America. The ABEMA stream is territory blocked even though a lot of ABEMA streams work fine.

I am watching on Twitch. Just wondering if there’s any legal way to actually buy this in North America. I saw mahjongg streams on ABEMA and those play so hopefully I won’t be watching tile games now 24/7. What’s the game that looks like chess with wedge pieces?

Tough to watch lower than juryo in my opinion. Number of people in the stands is fairly good indicator where we’re at as well.
Yeah, idk I always just stream it from NHK or else get a pirate download. I would pay a modest fee for some kind of sumo streaming channel and I think a lot of international fans would as well.
I think shogi is the one I’m thinking of. These Japanese commercials are GOATed by the way. Actually look forward to just seeing the commercials when the lower divisions are on.
What a stunning turn of events on the penultimate day. Takerufuji with victory & history all but in hand and his ankle gets wrecked in his loss to Asanoyama.
He can still win even if he goes kyujo if Onosato were to lose his bout. He’ll probably hobble up to the dohyo and try to get it done on one leg–and fail.
If he loses & Onosato wins tomorrow, it’s a playoff, and Onosato probably steamrolls him for the yusho.

About what time does Takerufuji go on in Cleveland time? I’ve fallen asleep too early every single night so far.
Makuuchi runs from 3-5am EST. He’s appearing on the early side tomorrow, probably around 4am I would guess. Unless he goes kyujo, which is a distinct possibility.

Yeah I’ll never make it. Didn’t even get to makushita last night, and a week ago I was getting up early to watch European darts events. Fringe sports wrecking my life.
