I watched it. Far from an accurate depiction of sumo, but entertaining nonetheless.

Man, new allegations are surfacing which, if true, paint Hakuho in a light so bad there may be no way he escapes having to exit the sumo world himself.
Maybe this guy thought he could get away with anything being Hakuho’s understudy. Now it looks like Hak himself is in trouble.
Apparently even Hakuko and Ishiura (who is coaching at the stable) grew disgusted with him.
Incidentally, the punishment has been dished. Hokuseiho is out of sumo, while Hakuho has been demoted to the lowest possible rank, and won’t even be allowed to run his own stable for the time being.

Miyagino-beya, Hakuho’s heya, will be shut down following the Haru basho. Surely the beginning of the end for the GOAT.
Wait, shut down for good? Not suspended?
Initial plan was that Hakuho was demoted and another oyakata would take over the running of the heya for the next couple of years while Hakuho was “trained” to become a proper, responsible oyakata.
But the situation has devolved into such a mess that they decided to just shut down the heya altogether. The rikishi who remain in sumo will find new homes at other stables.
Hakuho is gonna murder this kid.
The thing about it is, the crux of the issue is that for some unknown reason, Hakuho knew full well what was going on and yet continued to protect him. There are even rumors that Hokuseiho beat up on some regular peeps outside of sumo and Hakuho paid hush money on multiple occasions.
Something about the whole situation doesn’t add up, but here we are.

my favorite thing in the universe is when they interview these guys after the match and they say “I WILL DO MY BEST” hell yeah trust the process

They’re from the same heya and were given their names by the same shisho (Isegahama Oyakata).
Though they sound similar to the gaijin ear, but the kanji are nothing alike (尊 Takeru 宝 Takara)

The real tongue twister that even Japanese get tripped up on are the brothers WAKATAKAKAGE & WAKAMOTOHARU, and there’s even another brother, WAKAMOTOHARU, who hasn’t yet made it to the big leagues.
