That’s a bunch of people who haven’t been paying attention to Abi over the years.
Takakeisho promotion when?
Next basho if he wins another yusho or maybe even with a 14-1 runner up. Otherwise, no bueno.
OK I guess Steven Segal is a Hakuho fan.

Today is the day that Hakuho goes to the barber.
Time to get clipped. RIP to the GOAT in 500+ years of sumo.
He looks…different.

I’m a lolcasualfan when it comes to sumo. Can someone explain the significance of this hair cutting thing?
The mage is the part of the hair that sticks up on a sumo wrestler. It’s obligatory (except for young wrestlers who enter sumo and rise up the ranks before they have time for it to grow in).
Upon retirement, the “danpatsushiki” or hair-cutting ceremony is the symbolic official retirement of a wrestler.
Once the hair is cut, you’re officially and symbolically no longer a rikishi.
Do rikishi walk around in everyday life with it up like when they’re in the ring, or do they let it down when they’re going out for a beer with their bros?
They’re obligated to and also to wear Japanese kimono as well when out on the town.
Thanks. I also assume that they’re not allowed to wear their hair like that ever again even after it grows out.
Could Hakuho at least do it if he was going to be cast in a movie or something?
Thanks. So is it just two possibilities: the simple one and the ginko one?
I’m guessing these days it’s no longer the law, but back in the day it was outlawed for anyone other than samurai or sumo wrestlers to wear the topknot.
