Hakuho retired as the GOAT, and then promptly assembled a stable full of future champion disciples.

Is it just me or are more rikishi switching to a black mawashi lately? Getting pretty bland out there!
No Yokozuna. One injured, absent Ozeki.
Dark times call for dark mawashi.
who is most likely to go full goth and show up at the next basho with black fingernail polish and eyeliner
Abi
Ryuden. Heās into some dark sh*t. Even his name sounds goth.
Was all in on a Midorifuji yusho but the little man ran out of steam.
Either Daieisho or Kiribayama will be a worthy winner in a basho absent of Ozeki and Yokozuna.

@Ikioi, Iām planning on going to Tokyo sometime this summer, but Iām pretty sure I canāt go during the basho. Are there any other sumo tournaments of any kind I could watch live? I figure it would be fun even if it isnāt one of the big ones.
All the basho are in odd-numbered months. May is in Tokyo, and then July is in Nagoya.
If you canāt make it to an actual basho, in between they do jungyo tours to different locals throughout Japan. Currently they have the spring schedule up but check the link below for updates of the summer schedule, and maybe you can find something that works with your travel plans:

Lastly, many stables permit visits to view a morning training session. Might be worth looking into if nothing else pans out.
Thanks. Do you know if tour tickets are hard to get? Is it a whole day event?
Might depend on the location. They had one up in my prefecture recently and I know tickets didnāt sell out right away, if at all, as I saw ongoing TV ads for it.
Donāt think itās a whole day event. Probably 2-4 hours or so.
From what I see on sumo twitter, it looks like tourists can sometimes arrange to visit sumo stables and see them training and stuff.
Thanks. Iāll look into that.

Yeah, I did see that, but Iām still grateful that Trolly is trying to help the cause, even if, in this case, it is redundant.
Ichinojo has retired.
Yeah just heard. I think heās almost always been in the sanyaku ranks as long as Iāve been following sumo.
