The Presidency of the Joes, part II: lol documents

Why do you say this? Everybody making less than 75k as an individual qualified for the check, including 19 year olds living with their parents. I got mine in my bank account without doing a single thing.

Small nit, but married filing jointly over whatever that income limit is then neither get it. (i.e. - my wife makes less than 75k but didn’t get a check because of my income.)

My rough back of the envelope calc is 65% of Americans over 18 received checks. 78% of americans are over 18. 330M americans. 169M checks. Also not all checks at the full limit of $1400 because of things like what @anon10387340 wrote above. Income limits.

https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045219
has the 78% and 330M

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fourth-stimulus-check-update-2021-09-02/
has the 169M

SIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I don’t know what goes into your back of the envelope math. It’s obvious that babies wouldn’t receive $1400 checks (many actually “received” much more, $300/month), so the Perry Bacon number clearly refers to adults. Whether it’s 80% or 65% - which seems low to me as Joe and Jill Sixpack are not making anywhere near 150k jointly - the broader point still stands. The vast majority of American adults got checks, the vast majority say they got nothing.

“Hit the pause button,” Manchin said at a Wednesday event hosted by the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. “Let’s sit back. Let’s see what happens. We have so much on our plate. We really have an awful lot. I think that would be the prudent, wise thing to do.”

We’re so busy we should sit and do absolutely nothing, incredible leadership.

Yeah we’re fucked. This political system has to collapse before anything is going to get done. In before the dumbest guy on this site comes in here to tell us all that everything is fine and there’s nothing to see here.

The US desperately needs it’s Julius Caesar today to have a shot at retaining any kind of global relevance.

Should the political system be allowed to collapse on its own or is an accelerationist strategy called for?

Not today dude. What’s going to happen is going to happen clearly.

Yeah you’re definitely right about the monthly child credit, but the 80% as written in the tweet struck me as wrong. Broader point, that the good Biden has done isn’t getting enough credit still stands.

A massive reconciliation bill was the last chance to get Biden out of his approval hole lol.

I bet the blow back on that is probably in part why manchin is doing this.

Fuck a two trillion bill. Tell him either pass the three trillion or we tank both bills and blame you

What does he care? Tanking the bill will get him MORE votes in WV

I highly doubt he’s running again, he already said he wasn’t, and I doubt he wants his legacy to be tanking the first significant infrastructure bill in what 40 years?

And if he does fuck it. Democracy is about to crumble. Take a fucking stand and stop settling for crumbs. Time to yolo and hope for the best.

Biden needs to have some balls and threaten to put the IRS and fbi on his shitty Lil daughter.

Hard ball is the only answer left tbh. They’ve been trying ‘be nice and collegial’ my whole life and it hasn’t been worth a 30 gallon bucket of armadillo shit.

The check where he lied about the amount?
