The Presidency of the Joes, part II: lol documents

That’s true for anything that’s not a Tesla, right?

Not necessarily. I don’t know the exact verbiage on assembly in the US but there are numerous other companies that will continue to get the $7,500. Chevy Bolt for instance.

I’m awake now. Pretty sure anyway.

It’s a win but as possibly the last Dem bill ever passed in the foreseeable future it is nowhere close to meeting what is needed for this moment.

I refuse to believe Diane Feinstein actually pulled an all-nighter at age 177. There has to be some agreement not to report on this.

The vote on the child tax credit was 97-1, so I assume a couple people were napping.

Haven’t been keeping up. What was this exactly?

During the vote-a-rama, Bernie made them vote on adding an extension of the $300/mo child tax credit to the bill. He voted for it, everyone else voted against it.

Omg.

Thanks. Hopefully I can take delivery before the end of the year and this will be a non-issue. It’s going to be very close though.

Between this and my current car teetering on the edge of driveability, getting a new vehicle is proving to be a real sweat.

What are you trying to get? I’ve been trying to get an Ioniq 5 for 6 months. Not close. Probably won’t be able to get one before the new law starts.

I’ll happily eat my words. They played this insanely well. Glad we could find some money to help lessen the impending doom the world faces.

It’s good to get a W every now and then!

Spiking the football on this bill given your general tenor is certainly something considering it is a tiny fraction of the original 3.5T BBB bill. Yes it is a win but as I posted above it isn’t going to solve anything in the short or long term and it is literally the last thing we are getting for a long time. That said it is a lot better than nothing.

ETA - Pretty good summary of what is in the bill and what isn’t at the bottom of this article:

To me only getting
-A 1 year extension(I was wrong about this it is 3 years) of ACA subsidies with some expansion of them
-Medicare out of pocket prescriptons limited to $2000/yr with limits on how fast drug prices can rise for medicare only
-An extension of electric car subsidies
-Some important climate provisions

Is not a lot. The climate stuff is important. That’s the only thing in the bill to be excited about and that stuff will likely be repealed or struck down by the Supreme Court shortly anyways.
