Man just wait until Republican voters find out that Rob Portman didn’t keep his word after a handshake with Joe Biden. They’ll definitely vote him out in 2022.

This is all kabuki. This is the oligarchs making sure that the pace of change remains slow. Really risky for their heirs. If we really do hit +1.5C in 5 years they won’t even fade the consequences.
This “handshake” stuff is absolutely huge and not getting nearly enough attention. It’s just got to be the final straw. You can almost see the light going off in Biden’s head. He is on the verge of finally realizing that Republicans, like Terminators, can’t be bargained with, can’t be reasoned with, don’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and won’t stop until he is dead (or otherwise out of office).
Biden will soon schedule a prime time press conference where he will lay out in detail to the American people what’s going to happen and why. He’ll explain that Republicans have not been acting in good faith, that they’re just running out the clock in an effort to thwart a progressive agenda that was overwhelmingly endorsed by the electorate in the last election. He’ll explain the significance of the Republicans backing out of this handshake deal, and he’ll promise that he’s now seen the error of his ways, and no more time will be wasted in chasing an elusive and impossible bipartisanship. They’ve had more than their share of chances! And he’ll further promise that he’ll be moving full speed ahead to push through his full agenda with no Republican support by any means necessary. Any so-called Democrats that stand in the way of that will pay a steep price.
This is all very good news and I’m really feeling some optimism that things will be getting back on track very soon.

I mean it seems pretty clear Manchin has told them under no circumstances will he alter the filibuster. His Donors got to him after he brought up the talking filibuster. Maybe even his daughter worried about pharma pricing changes under a talking filibuster.
It’s been dead for months, and it’s been obvious, we just haven’t accepted it.
