Why do you think this is likely? I donât think it is, especially if Democrats essentially roll over and let it happen. Then we get a stable, Republican governmentâguaranteed forever. Sounds great for rich people iyam (not that Democrats are âbadâ for rich people).

The super rich gain when markets tank. They get to buy everything at a discount.
And I think itâs clear republicans are beyond the control of the wealthy now. Once youâre the only game in town the wealthy lose their power.
If they do certify their career will be over. Shit everyone who certified in 2020 career is over and they couldnât have done it if they wanted. Now they can do it and itâll be legal

Not certify is a lock if trump runs. Well most likely he wins straight up especially with the new voter restrictions but if not they wonât certify and will send their own electors
As long as we maintain the trappings of democracy, I have faith in Republicans to eventually fuck things up and leave themselves vulnerable. It just might take a few decades.
Because other western countries will no longer be able to rely on us and theyâll (eventually) just russia-ize us/drop the USD, whatever. And countries will no longer want to send their kids here for college and upper middle class people will brain drain to other places and companies wonât want to continue to have their HQs here and probably a bunch of other factors. Did any country actually get better after authoritarian coups? Could be wrong here IDK.
The country will get worse but some well-connected oligarchs will be wealthier than even they ever dreamed.
Itâs just how it is now. Everywhere, though on different timelines.

The rich are divided between the ones that want stability because they have it good right now and donât want to risk losing it, and the ones that genuinely think they are inherently superior and are guaranteed to be rich in any environment because it is their divine right to be rich.
The Stability Rich will support Dems or Romney types. They donât want the markets to tank because they just want to stay where theyâre at. Being in the 1% is good enough.
The Divine Rights Rich are total Trumpers and support him on a culture basis. They donât care if markets tank because they are confident that their natural superiority will win out anyway.

This is the ISIS But With Football And NASCAR scenario and I think its very much in play. Meathead cops and Joe Rogan types will thoroughly embrace this, even if it notionally makes them poorer, because they believe in their heart of hearts that they are destined to be Alpha Male Warlords and only the egg head scientists and shrill feminists are stopping them from fulfilling their full potential.

Seriously they have been setting this up to happen since 2020. Everyone who certified the 2020 election is out of power, retiring, or is going to lose their next election
I doubt a lot of that will happen. Republicans will keep it with a shine of legitimacy and other powers will play along because if they donât itâll tank their economy too. In time that stuff may happen but itâll be a slow decline not sudden.
Youâll still have elections so the US can continue with its allies in overthrowing elected foreign governments in the name of democracy. Itâs just that they might not mean much more than elections in China or the USSR.

I mean there was that article about all the people in charge of certification getting serious death threats from trumpets and they couldnât even legally do it.
Now states are passing laws which allow them to do it legally. More will follow once Dems get smashed in 2022.
Ehhh I think thereâs some degree of bluster here and my general feeling is they donât do it. While youâre right that theyâve been setting it up since 2020, they could have actually done it in 2020 if they wanted, lets be clear that it wasnât âthe bravery of Mike Pence on 1/6â, if they wanted it to happen then they could have twisted his arm or whatever, blocked delegates, etc.
This is wrong, Milley never would have let them get away with it.

Hmm shenanigans happen in the capitol building on 1/6, Dems walk out, it gets thrown to the states and the R states immediately vote for Trump and heâs the legal, constitutional president.
And then Milley does⌠what exactly here? March into the whitehouse with a battalion the next day and take Trump into custody? Refuse to take his orders? Side-inaugurate Biden on 1/20? Iâm not seeing it.

No they couldnât have. The supreme court wasnât on board with a total illegitimate overthrow. Thus the military wasnât on board and would have stopped them. Plus fbi etc
The states have passed laws now though so the supreme court will allow it. Once the supreme court allows it, everything else will follow
