I have a liberal friend who is unironically going around saying happy infrastructure week
I assume the infrastructure bill is a big windfall for their constituents? Some companies are going rake in infrastructure money hand over fist.
They are neither a force nor good. They deserve support only to the extent that the sole other option is worse.
lol
That was just a moment of weakness. She posted a follow up to that one.
You should instead consider supporting progressive challengers to your city council, school board, county supervisors, and state representatives. That would make more of an impact.
And by support I mean send money AND volunteer. Often the difference to winning these seats is one weekend of door knocking.
In a primary, yes. In a general election all politics is now national and campaigns donāt matter.
I think if you want to make a difference your time is best spent launching your own facebook initiative for whatever candidates/issues you find important. You can make what ever money you would donate go farther and it is way higher yield than knocking on doors.
Biden got votes for the BIF by promising he would get BBB passed. If he doesnāt he either lied or is incompetent and the Dems, particularly progressives, shouldnt support him continuing as head of the party.
Sure. Iām talking national candidates, particularly incumbents, but time probably just best spent on direct action vs political action at this point.
You may be right, but I suspect that the best way to make progress is to fight the good fight on multiple fronts.
Iron can do the electoral shit, Iām working on my Molotov potency.
No argument with division of labor.
the feeling on UP is that only trmp on the ballot is the only thing that can animate the left to get up and vote.
but i think i want trmp to run because heās for sure going to fuck it up somehow
Trump probably the most likely to lose, but also the most likely to spark Civil War or coup, so, we will see
Thereās a chance that if heās not on the ballot, he can throw a hissy fit and find a way to ruin it for Republicans. The media can bait him with a story about how Republicans are better off without him, encouraging him to try and prove them wrong.
you know, a lot of you here say the exact thing republicans want you to feel and believe.

Last week locally elected democrats went down nationally, underperforming expectations regardless of their campaigns, their politics, their beliefs, etc. Are you saying this wasnāt due to the national environment? I suppose in a few extremely close races an individual candidateās campaign and/or platform could matter for about a point or so, but didntā seem to much more then that. It wasnāt like only moderate democrats underperformed, or only progressives underperformed.
it was a surprise to me to find out that virginia and new jersey usually switches parties occupying the governorās mansion. the trend goes to at least reagan. it reads kinda weird, since they are always in off years and are obviously affected by dc and national politics so much. but apparently it was the norm. dems bucked the trend somehow by narrowly keeping nj. :mind blown: va is for sure disappointing, because it obviously is, and iām also invested in state politics. but letās not treat it like itās the end.
