Let’s talk a little about what people are surely speculating about. Why didn’t Barr crush this?
The answer to that is optics. It plays very similarly to the WB complaint. Keep in mind that the WB implicated three different sets (I’m saying sets because of it being multiple lawyers that were implicated in addition to Barr and Trump) of people who the acting DNI went to for advice. The administration’s stance on everything has been to not cooperate, and to obstruct at every turn.
They didn’t actually do that in the case of the acting DNI. They gave him what they perceived to be legal advice (awful legal advice), and then told him to make his own decision based on it. They all knew that if they tried to bury this that they would all be completely sunk and that there would be no way they could spin it. So, they just gave him bad legal advice, and hoped he was as incompetent and stupid as he seemed. He was!
There is no situation where the optics of them not allowing him to turn over that complaint could work for them. There is no situation where the optics of Barr killing a criminal investigation into Trump’s personal lawyer Giuliani can work for him. Therefore, Giuliani is got.

So, umm, everyone, today is, umm, Trump’s 1000th day in office.
Definitely not aghast. I give money to homeless and don’t care that it’s probably going to drugs or booze. I don’t offer them food because it’s probably not what they want. And if it is they can use the cash to buy that. It’s actually the people who say I’ll buy you a muffin who are aghast at buying them booze, not folks who throw them a buck or two of cash no questions asked.
