The Presidency of Donald J. Trump v5.0: ORANGE Gettin' PEACHed, Nation Goes PEANUT BUTTER & BANANAS

Have you seen polls in the Midwest? The election is a coin flip right now no matter who the Dems nominate.

The country may already be perma-fucked after just four years of Trump. It’s absolutely fucked after eight.

This is the right take if you’re going to be pro him dying in office. And I basically agree with it.

And this is the right take for ‘don’t let him die in office’. I agree with this more than I agree with him dying in office. I worry that if he dies everything will just get swept under the rug and the GOP will get a new lease on life. Yeah they’ll lose in 2020, but that was going to happen anyway, and it probably won’t be as much of a landslide as it would have been… which will greatly reduce the chances of us having 52+ Senators.

The current polling models are about ‘likely voters’ when all indications are that turnout is going to be way way up. Also Trump hasn’t had a chance to look like a complete idiot for months during the general election yet.

Don’t get me wrong I want you to be scared so that you (and everyone else) turns out… but this whole thing is about turnout and Trump is going to be VERY good for Democratic turnout in 2020. I’ve never seen anything like it. If you think it was good in 2008 after Bush… lol Trump is going to do better.

That won’t affect anything that happens to the country in the future. I’d definitely let them all walk away free than take a chance at Trump 2020.

Trump dying in office would piss me off. I don’t even want him removed from office. He needs to be embarrassed. He needs to lose 50 states by 30 million votes. Realistically though he could lose 40 states and by 10 million votes.

If Trump dies and the GOP nominates someone like Romney, there will probably be an Aryan third party running Richard Spencer that will get 20% of the vote.

Fuck this. Any way he is no longer the focus of every day of our lives is a good way.

You’re more worried about one symptom than the underlying disease?

30 people in prison don’t cure the disease anymore than it did with the Nixon or Reagan administrations.

I think you’re thinking of Danica Roem, who was elected to the VA state legislature in 2017 and just won reelection. No trans people in the US congress. Loomer won’t be the first and I can’t imagine how anyone would be offended at a joke that misspells her name to suggest she’s sexually promiscuous while also implying that having some opposite gendered physical features is what it means to be trans. What a classic 1-2 punch.

A lot of the MAGA chuds will stay home without Trump. No one has the cult power that he’s built up over decades. If he dies we’re going to have a primary with some unelectable tool like Paul Ryan vs. some batshit white nationalist. Dems will find a way to make it a close election.

In before the batshit white nationalist is good at politics and wins the general after obliterating his establishment GOP opponent in the primary. I’m scared of facing actual Hitler instead of dumb Hitler in 2024 already.

It already happened in 2016.

Ideal scenario is Trump goes now and Democrats find some way to continue highlighting the corruption that has been allowed to spread (maybe impeach Pompeo/Barr). It shouldn’t be hard to keep at least some residual anger among Democratic voters for another year. Trump voters on the other hand are showing up for Trump, they’re gone when he’s gone.

People are drastically underestimating the power of the electoral college ITT. Ohio and Florida are gone. Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. are the ballgame, and they are chock full of racist white idiots who vote.

If KY and LA can elect D Governors, the D candidate can win in FL/OH. There is no way in hell FL/OH are redder LOL.

OH probably unwinnable in 2020 but demographic shifts are gonna put it in play after that.

I bet Rand Paul takes another swing if Trump is out of the picture.

Both of those states went pretty solidly blue in 2018. Hard to see them getting any redder in 2020 during a Presidential election.

Ohio might be gone but FL is very much in play.

There’s a part of me that doesn’t want to change anyone’s pessimism about this upcoming general election. It’s that pessimism being widespread among blue voters that is going to turn this into a landslide.
