It’s a fairly simple Bayesian calculation: if you’re up 3 points nationally you usually win, if you’re up 5 points you win a large majority of the time, and if you’re up 10+ you almost never lose.
That’s not even getting to the sort of “mandate” arguments that can be made when you win a blowout victory.

We’re 6 mos from Nov, the Covid numbers look at best mediocre, and I think that outside of the true believer Trumpkins there is an increasing mass of people who are tired of the nonsense (Tweeting about Twitter threats) and just want things to go back to something close to normal. If Trump’s current polls are even close to accurate, where is he going to make up 11+% on Biden before Nov.? The GOP is edging to a wipe out in November - and a lot of GOP reps and senators are going to
