Yeah, this is potentially a total disaster for democracy in the US. The best case scenario is that Trump leaves office after his loss, not because he should but simply because he fucking hates being President if people aren’t Great Leadering him 24/7. The fake election stuff may just be Trump setting himself up for spending the rest of life insisting he never actually lost the 2020 election while Fox News hosts smile and nod. The fact that it permanently damages the country means nothing to Trump.
Conservatives just hate the USPS because they imagine it is a wasteful government bureaucracy. It’s been a villain in the Republican narrative for decades.
