Yeah exactly. How long will it be before Trump declares the intelligence is wrong and that Putin has denied this very strongly? Or that the US is strongly considering becoming part of the new Soviet Union?

Yep. I was the same. I thought Hillary should be 90%, but the result made it clear that Nate had been correct (because much closer Trump victories were possible). It seems like 538’s model was one of the only ones who correctly took into account correlated polling errors across whole regions. The Upshot’s model reacted really slowly on the day as well, still giving Hillary huge chances of winning when it was way past clear she was toast.
It’s largely an epistemological problem, rather than uncertainty in outcome. We can’t gather enough good information to tell what the outcome will be. Part of that is that there are last-minute events that can throw things off, but part of it is that we just can’t poll well enough.

There are some who believe that the story about Trump and the bounties are the work of foreign intelligence services trying to harm Trump’s re-election and that there may be more bombs left to drop.
