This is not even remotely true. GWB had way higher disapproval in his second term. Even Obama had over 50% disapproval at some points in his Presidency.
One of the sources, a senior administration official, insisted that the president wasn’t ordering tanks to roll down the streets, but was inquiring about “the kind of hardware” that could be used in military shows of force, and at one point Trump threw out the word “tanks.”
“I think that is just one of the military words he knows,” this official said.

Among groups with lots of guns (cops, armed civilians, federal law enforcement, the army), the actual military is the only one there’s any reason to have any degree of hope in as a bulwark against a serious coup scenario.
