A ton of “We support the [township] police” yard signs showed up near me during the George Floyd protests. They’ve stayed up for 5 months now. I see way fewer Trump signs than in the past, and I’m sure there is some correlation to previous Trump sign houses and current police fellating houses.
The only thing I really want is more fracking. A FRACKING IN EVERY POT! NO MALARKEY!

The weird thing is that flag has been around for years and I think had a much more benign intent (though we could certainly misguided in terms of police conduct and authoritarian underpinnings).
I would bet that a fair amount of the display of that flag has been relatively well intentioned as support for people that do dangerous jobs as a public service (in the vein of 911 firefighters). However this recent outcropping of them is clearly driven by something else (fucking nazis?. Still I bet the general public and even the generic republican supporters don’t understand yet.
These folks are going to dig in (but not burrow) and have their own secret cult. Rooting them out of government at all levels is going to be difficult and take a long time. Funny thing is that there will be a deep state. But the deep state is Trumpism.
