I listen to his podcast and I tend to agree but not 100%. I think pre-Covid he was still solidly on the fence. He guested on Gilbertâs âcast early in Trumpâs presidency and was quite deferential to Trump (âpeople shouldnât underestimate himâ etc). I think they kinda became buddies during the roast.
Can add Parkland and protesting to that graphic too.

Thereâs no doubt in my mind they would have left the SCOTUS plus all the lower court vacancies open these entire four years. I know this at least about the lower courts because they were literally doing this already even when we had the Senate prior to 2011. The whole reason Reid went nuclear was because Cocaine and Co. were filibustering every single nominee Obama sent up the Hill. This is why it drives me so batshit insane when these idiot NPR bothsides reporters get a Dem on and start their interviews on the subject off with âWELL ACTSHULLY HAIRY REED SORTA STARTED IT HOWBOUT DAT?â
So, at least as far as the courts are concerned, the status quo was inevitable. And itâs why we should have not one single fking problem packing the courts over the next however many years it takes to get them back.
