“unexpected nazi” is a good working title for a enentual tv dramatization of the insurrection

What I wouldn’t give for a complete meltdown either of the Bobby Knight or cryinggirlmeme variety.

Yeah I already know exactly who I’m searching and I’m 99.8% sure what I’m going to find.

So he can go hard in the paint on this but not 2k checks? Because this is certainly more political damaging in WV than 2k checks which would be super popular. Hopefully he comes around after he gets all the pork.

those ids look like hashes, but too many start with a common prefix.

that’s… terrible on many levels

CEO of Parler’s wife, Mukhutidinova’s mother’s name is Gulnara, a longtime government functionary who was an “Honored Builder of Russia” in Soviet times.

I don’t know if the tides have turned or all the bot and nazi accounts got banned or what but I am seeing right wing people get viciously dragged everywhere right now with basically zero pushback. I don’t think your run of the mill MAGA dipshit will ever get the stink off them from these last 4-5 years. The left is not going to magically forget. If we do return to “normal” I think there will be widespread discrimination against these people. I know the ones who went full MAGA in my life are dead to me forever and I will continue to drag them every chance I get for the rest of my life.

So long as it was not done at the direction of law enforcement, it’s not suppressible because of the nature in which it was obtained.

Eh headlines not great

GOP has bill to reallocate Wisconsin’s electoral votes by congressional district

Does this make sense and how much would it allow them to do?

In a press release announcing the decision, Twilio revealed which services Parler was using. This information allowed hackers to deduct that it was possible to create users and verified accounts without actual verification.

With this type of access, newly minted users were able to get behind the login box API used for content delivery. That allowed them to see which users had moderator rights and this in turn allowed them to reset passwords of existing users with simple “forgot password” function. Since Twilio no longer authenticated emails, hackers were able to access admin accounts with ease.

This is the part that doesn’t make sense:

In a press release announcing the decision, Twilio revealed which services Parler was using. This information allowed hackers to deduct that it was possible to create users and verified accounts without actual verification.

Like, say you’re writing the backend for a critical service like phone number verification. Your twilio credentials no longer work, and the app probably crashes or starts throwing errors.

The default behavior in this error case is to… just send users along their merry way to do whatever they want? What? I have a hard time imagining anything so terribly designed, but I don’t have any hands on experience with this sort of stuff so maybe I’m missing something obvious.

As to what it would let them do - shit, if you have an admin account, I would imagine you could do a ton of stuff. Once you’re logged in as some kind of superuser anything is technically possible.

you’re gonna believe he’s pretending just because he wrote that on the internet?

It looks like fake stories with pictures of congressional staffers saving the electoral ballots during the Capitol siege. Or fake pictures of the Oval Office being trashed and saying “never let people forget this”. Or videos of people being arrested 6 months ago that are passed off as current arrests of insurrectionists. Or posts like the one Chads shared falsely claiming that calls for unity led to Jim Crow. Or the current Parler thing that appears to just be a script that scrapes sequentially numbered URLs for posts and is being treated like a huge breach.

It’s not “both sides”, because right now the lies that circulate among the right are way more dangerous than those that circulate among the left. It’s just fucking annoying and results in our side believing a bunch of silly stuff.

This… does not seem like a bad thing longterm? Because Wisconsin is fading fast for the dems.
