fun fact: before the 25th amendment, a vacancy in the vice presidency could not be filled until the next quadrennial election. Lyndon Johnson was the last president constitutionally unable to pick a vp after Kennedy’s death.
Nixon was the first president to select an unelected vice president, after Agnew resigned. He chose Ford of course, and Ford was the only other president to utilize that section of the 25th amendment, selecting Nelson Rockefeller as his veep.
The rules are the rules. We have our presidential election once every four years.
well they better keep her ass completely separated from biden/harris for a while. and in that hypothetical, she’d better appoint bernie VP about 2 seconds after being sworn in for safety.

They’re inconsistent in the sense that the one bobman refers to is super duper more racist. One is treating a white protester with kid gloves, the other is actively collaborating with radical white supremacist factions to overthrow the government and install a white ethnostate.
I get it’s cathartic to say the “if they were black” line and it’s obviously correct, but the actual why is so much more sinister and racist than people imagine that it’s almost paradoxically incorrect to say the line.

From what I remember, yes. And getting to Jan 6 was actually a potential sweat on this issue (again, according to my memory of some podcast or something).

If this has anything to do with any of my anti-police posts in the thread, I think people understand that having Capitol Police and other law enforcement personnel being complicit in the MAGA coup is a much worse “situation” than garden-variety police racial bias (which can be considered a manifestation of the larger issue).
Often times examples/arguments are used that people are familiar with. Everybody is very familiar with police racial bias. Thankfully, people (in the US anyway) are not at all familiar with police actively engaged in an attempted coup.

She would be in a safe location getting sworn in and selecting a vice president before going back into the public. They would also be pretty quick in selecting a new speaker of the house. There is also way more security around the president and vice president. The kind of security that shoots first and asks questions later. RWNJ trying to carry weapons during inauguration close to the president will end up dead very quickly.

What planet are you living on? There is no way Dems wouldn’t just shut that down on their side. They may not like Nancy that much, but there is no way they would want to roll the dice with another election. Dems would never call for this. Certainly not enough of them to amend the constitution.
Nancy would serve the full 4 years. Her first order of business would be to get a new VP confirmed. Even before that House would have to confirm a new speaker in case Nancy dies before new VP is confirmed.

It’s almost impossible for people to shake off the rational thought that if a prediction doesn’t come true, the followers will somehow realize they were misled.
This is why people are honestly surprised when a “mainstream” conservative is back to active terror 3 days after.
There’s no solution really. We can only hope to go from 45% of the population being terrorists to 25%. The most helpful thing imo is to make it harder for people to be subjected to the propaganda, which is why pressuring social media companies, mainstream publishers etc is the best strategy. Most people don’t really have time and energy to be a QAnon. They just want to get fat and die in comfort.
