I think the idea is that if mitch is determined to slowroll things, they’ll hold the articles in the house until after mitch is no longer in the majority, but at that point they won’t want to bog Biden’s first 100 days down with a trial, so they’ll wait a bit then do it just to get GOP senators on the record and to possibly force the vote on barring Trump from running for office again.

I don’t think you have to worry much about whether there will be peace in the near future, false or otherwise. The central motivating problem for the right is that the country is becoming less white. The country was 88% white in 1970 and it’s about 70% now. Some states lost majority white some years back, some are about to, and now even places like Georgia, Minnesota are seeing large non-white immigrant populations and even places like Idaho are seeing non-white people for the first time. Sure there are idiots in there who are really there because they imagined Obama would take their guns, but the raison d’etre is race, and that’s not going away until the racists change their minds or die and stop being born.

My initial reaction was that waiting 100 days is dumb because the rage will pass, but they don’t have the votes either way so it really doesn’t matter. Plus Trump is guaranteed to do even more outrageous shit in the next 4 months.

There is no point in my life that I will miss seeing a trump tweet or hearing about anything he ever said. I just wish his presidency had ended in the history books so irrelevant nobody would ever bring him up 100 years from now.
