Sounds like you believe the alternative to Trump should be someone who acts in the same way as Trump. Not sure how that’s going to get us where we want to be. The Democratic majority is too narrow right now. Now if we manage to get a much bigger majority, then you can put them in their place. Just saying I think Biden needs to approach this situation with some finesse.

I don’t think Biden is seeing unity as a political optics thing. In order to get back to a normal society, he really needs Republicans to get with the program, that is, drop the nutty rhetoric and stop lying. Getting FOX News on board with that would help as well. But regardless, controlling the virus and just governing in a more standard way is the best approach at this point.

In certain scenarios the votes and the economy matters not at all.
Plenty of countries torn apart by conflict between smaller groups.

The DemE crowd has been doing this same cycle for 40 years now. When they have power it’s time for unity and when the other side has power they make things 10x worse. The first step to having any chance at getting out of this mess is admitting that isn’t working.
Now does that mean Biden needs to act uncivil? Of course not. But he needs to wield power when he has it rather than trying to make sure McConnell and Hannity’s fee fees are doing ok.
