The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode XIV: T-minus 97 Hours

Right but the DC code is analogous to state law, right? So if I break into someone’s apartment in DC and steal their laptop the US attorney’s office will charge me with the DC burglary statute you quoted. But if I burgle Nancy Pelosi’s office, that would be a federal crime, and the same federal crime as if I burgled a federal office in Alabama.

There would be a proper security perimeter, with National Guard, riot police, water cannons. They wouldn’t get on Capitol grounds.

… does Forbes assume the non-Trump corporate PR people are truthful?

Yeah, like

We’re going to scrutinize, double-check, investigate with the same skepticism we’d approach a Trump tweet.

“OMG were you not already?”

LOL “double-checking” Trump’s tweets I mean most of them didn’t need a single check.

I hope their list is longer than just those pictured above.

I think it’s a reasonable way to approach this. I mean I’m absolutely sure there were people who came along after the doors were open and just took a stroll through. I’m ok going much easier on them.

I said 20+ based on people getting in Or very close, but that is very unlikely.

In context he was talking about letting the facts of voter fraud battle it out in a court of law, the problem being that they don’t have any facts and 50ish courts have told them so. I don’t think it was poorly coded language so much as an old guy saying the wrong thing, the only thing Rudy is still good at…

Is it wrong to assume, following the anticipated DOJ housecleaning, that any of the arrested might end up facing additional charges?

Yea like I doubt that granny was scaling the walls and screaming “Death to Pence!”

And I think there’s an argument for waiting ten days before piling on the charges since doing so could conceivably trigger a blanket pardon from Trump.

I’m sure this tweet must’ve been posted ITT already, but it’s worth reading again

Black people walking to the store just want to be treated the same as a white man dressed like a wolf with an AR-15 breaking into the Capitol.

Someone died as a result of their actions and someone else was literally murdered. Their stated goal was to subvert the very essence of America. The peaceful transition of power. We may have fucked up a lot of principles of “freedom” along the way but not that one until these clowns.

I really hope their is a long game being played here. Low response now so their idiot brethren do stupid things on Jan 20 and then drop the hammer. But I’m fast losing hope.

Their are actual terrorists and bad actors mixed up in these, regardless of how stupid they are in execution.

If the “normies” that get swept up in the rhetoric are concerned about losing their jobs and getting some jail time so they stay the fuck home is deterrent enough for me.

The most likely path to the US becoming a full-on authoritarian state is continued escalation of insurrection and crackdown. Y’all Qaeda isn’t going to install a fascist government, we’re going to install one ourselves to stop Y’all Qaeda.

No he wasn’t. He even said something about the courts refusing to see the evidence. And he went on to say something like “over the next 10 days we will be able to examine the machines, and look at the paper ballets.” Presumably, this meant after they physically forced the issue. Since they had already had any claims tossed out of court dozens of times.

I’ll add that during late Georgian times when pickpockets were often sentenced to hang, public hangings were one of the most attractive places for pickpockets to ply their trade.

No but they know that the gig is up if capitalism looses it’s veneer or respectability.

This. Not only is 300 people in prison for sedition what a fascist state would do, it makes it far far far more likely that the Trumpiots will do more and worse in the future.

Remember Ruby Ridge? Timothy McVeigh did.
