My guess is they were trying to clear that stairwell - which is where they finally evacuated the high-value targets out of.
But yeah the cops and protesters were pretty chummy the whole time - hanging out together.

How are the republicans not impeaching him now under current circumstances and being done with him forever? Otherwise, he could still be running in 2024.
