If the GOP wins the House, this is what Nancy’s future will be:

What Democrats should also be pushing, is that an obnoxious group of senators that represent only 18% of the country is depriving the entire country of measures that the majority of the country is trying to get enacted through Congress.

If the Democrats take the senate (long shot, I know) and the presidency, can you imagine how triggered the right would be if there was a legit trial on January 3? One last fuck you for the last two weeks of his presidency.

Can you imagine what it’s like for Mitch to talk to Trump today?

McConnel: Of course I’m surprised.

Trump: She got the better of you!

McConnel: No one can anticipate everything.

Trump: Oh! So she should replace you? Is that it?

McConnel: She used a nuclear option.

Trump: Why shouldn’t she be Senate Majority Leader instead of you?

McConnel: Sir—(realizes he will now be featured in Trump’s next SIR story—$@&!)—she would impeach you instantly.

Trump: Are you a moron? She already did.

This is the point at which an amphibian would think all right, maybe Trump should resign.

I could be 100% wrong, but not sending this to the Senate for trial after a reasonable period of time seems like a mistake. I can dig up some posts, but I’ve been somewhat concerned by how McConnell would play this once he got it, so I understand the hesitation. But best outcome imo is: fast acquittal, dodging as much deep state Hunter Hunter derp as possible, then running against vulnerable Rs for their collaborationism in the next cycle.

If they turn it into a reality tv shitshow, it is not great but not terrible either. Cocaine Mitch will rightly take a lot of heat for making a mockery of the process by declaring genius innocent in advance. The Hunter Hunter Burisma derp is still just red meat for the 42-43% crowd and nothing that sways Independents and soft R suburbanites, so bring it on, maybe?

Now if they don’t actually send the articles over, then the “no due process” talking point gets an optic and imo an on the merits boost. Dotard is entitled to a defense, even if that defense is a garbage fire. Basically, my sense is the that a lingering “no due process” talking point is more damaging than prospect of a reality tv shitshow culminating in acquittal, and could put the D House majority in more danger than the impeachment vote itself.

Personally I think the Burisma/Hunter Biden stuff wiping out Joe is in the top 5% of outcomes of this entire thing.

I miss this dude

Hot take: absolutely does not matter if/when Nancy sends it to the senate.

There are no brilliant strategic moves here. There is exactly one thing that has meaning: winning in 2020. And how impeachment is handled from here is going to have absolutely zero effect.

Stronger: Listening to Mitch McConnell talk about the decline of bipartisanship is like listening to Jeffrey Dahmer complain about the decline of men to have dinner with.

These are good points. I too would feel concerned if this were drawn out too long, but for the first day after impeachment, it’s a good move.
