Depends which way the wind is blowing. If the fallout goes toward California and Nevada, it’s fine. If it goes toward Idaho and Wyoming, he’s done. If it goes toward four corners, coin flip.

I guess it’s hard to judge. Romney has been on the ballot twice in Utah, (2012 president and 2018 Senate) and beat Trump’s vote total both times. But that doesn’t factor in other stuff (opponent etc).
I didn’t know about those polls so I’ll withdraw my “definitely more popular” for sure.
McMullin got 21.5% of the vote in 2016, so Trump only won by 18% in Utah. Hillary got a higher percentage than Obama did against Romney, but less than Obama did against McCain. It’s probably more likely that a third party conservative challenger wins than a Democrat wins in Utah.

I agree, but having > 0 equity there would be hilarious and fun. Romney won 63-31, so splitting up his vote does actually mean there’s a chance.
My hot take on it is that Mitt is already rich on his own and doesn’t depend on dark money and PACs to run. If he did, this wouldn’t be happening. His business dealings still reveal he’s a morally devoid POS but he’s “clean” politically speaking due to accumulating a massive fortune in other ways.
