The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VI: No Witnesses, One Defector, No Checks or Balances

He is giving up the game plan here. He knows they both would end up galvanizing enough support to destroy him in the general election.

That is a part of the daily rhetoric with lots of these guys. They talk about how Dems support making the baby comfortable after birth before killing it.

You mean the founding fathers weren’t infallible?

No waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Wait, the Johnson impeachment was mostly led by fellow Republicans.

Johnson was a democrat

It didnt last too long. By the time we got to Roof Roadz and child sex slavery the majority of them were gone.

You know what? Good job, Mitt. Seriously.

He’s pretty obviously not even in the same stratosphere as the Marsha Blackburn / Devin Nunes crowd. If the GOP were full of Mittens clones the West Wing wouldn’t have ruined America.

If the West Wing had been written further to the right, maybe the GOP would be full of Mitts. Mitt is the Democrat of the Republican party (hopelessly naive about the direction his party is going, thinks expressing “deep concern” will change things, etc…).

In his case, that ends up with him occasionally doing the right thing rather than consistently doing the wrong thing, so kudos for that I guess.

I feel like the effect of Mitt’s vote is mainly in exposing the hypocrisy of his senate colleagues. What he did to them will likely have a significant impact, probably cutting short some careers.

Nah, the value of Mitt’s vote is annoying Trump enough that nuking Utah is in play.

Utah is not pro trump country. He’s might actually lose the state to a 3rd party Mormon this time. Extremely possible if he goes full nuclear on Romney now… which obviously he will.

I’d snap sweet summer child anyone else saying this, but I have respect for you and the journey that leads you to your positions, so I will merely sweet autumn child you in mild jest

Mitt will get more coverage than the actual acquittal… also his niece is the head on the RNC lol. Too bad Trump doesn’t know enough about Mormons to say something offensive that would put Utah into play.

Trump is more popular than Romney in Utah (okay it’s not by a lot) and that was before this vote. Yes, Utah isn’t a super trumpy state but it’s enough they’ll dump romney for him if that’s the battle.

I mean, nuking Utah might the actual step too far where some Republicans start to turn against Trump. I doubt the bar is lower than that.

He’s 100% going to say something offensive enough to put mormons in play. Zero doubt about it. Mitt Romney is mormon royalty, which means mounting a REALLY strong and prolonged attack on him for a long time is enough probably.

Wouldn’t it be a great thing if people would tweet offensive things about Mormons to Trump in an attempt to get him to re-tweet them?
