Fuck. He’s way better at being a political candidate than he is at being president. This is actually borderline smart for winning Iowa in the general. Both of his tweets this morning were on target and ‘smart’.
This is why picking our leaders with a marketing contest may cause the country to collapse. With every passing day I more strongly suspect that modern communications tech may actually break democracy. Being good at marketing is probably more important than being good at doing stuff.

That’s not fair. The only reason I can find IA on a map is trucking. (it’s the state directly northwest of IL. It ships a lot of meat loads, particularly pork and poultry.
EDIT: Lol I confused east and west in my initial post. The only thing saving me from looking super super super stupid is the fact that northeast of IL is water. This is why asking someone as dumb as Donald Trump to locate IA on a map is stupid. In fact let’s not keep pretending like being able to locate places on maps matters. It doesn’t.
I think dem voters and republican voters are different and the same strategy doesn’t work for both.

We don’t generally do it but if there was ever a moment to run on it it’s definitely now with Trump. Zara is right that we need to run on simpler themes. Obama running on hope and change was smart. Hope and change are very simple and easy to digest.

I think most people are too dumb to see the real damage Trump is causing. They’ve had him for 4 years and nothing too crazy has happened and their lives haven’t changed much. Most people see Trump as an incompetent clown, not an insane ideologue who is going to randomly nuke people.
I think some fear is good but I still think healthcare, climate change, and better wages is where the bread and butter is.
I’d say use climate change for your use of fear to motivate people.
He almost started a war with Iran recently. That, I think, people noticed.
It’s about making Democrats scared to motivate them to turn out. Obama was also really good at that. In 2012 when internal polls were telling his campaign that he was almost a lock they were publicly doing everything they could to downplay expectations and make Democratic voters scared that they could lose. This was absolutely correct.
Climate change is a good lever yes. So is potential foreign war. So is the death of Democracy. If you’re trying to use fear to get elected it’s your supporters you’re trying to scare. Look at how aggressively Trump tries to ignite fear in his own base for another good example of fear as a motivator.

Yeah he’s dunking on the dems hard, this will only be a 1-2 week story though and nobody will remember it come election time.
