In a recent spat of interviews with GOP senators, some said they will vote to acquit him not because he doesn’t deserve to be removed, but because removing him via any method other than election would cause far more damage than allowing him to serve out his term. They’re afraid of a literal Civil War 2.
I’m persuaded that removing him ASAP takes precedent, but I’m sympathetic to their explanation. I’m not in the government. If what he’s done publicly is this bad, I can imagine what he’s done behind the scenes to destroy people.
We are not supreme beings able to make pure decisions. Our experiences shape what terms are available to us. So I think a lot about people who have been beaten down in ways I don’t know, and I weep because some of those people have power they’re now incapable of wielding for anything more than another day’s survival.

Rush isn’t even that good at it, he was just the first to amp up the naked racism and vitriol to a 10/10. It’s not like stupid olds comparison shop their AM radio derp.
I really hope the Republicans have some kind of 25th Amendment plan in place in the event that Trump goes over the edge following an election defeat. But I fear that they don’t.
Dude’s gonna step up his golfing bigly and preemptively pardon his family members. That’s about it. Imo, fears about the lame duck are overblown. It’s only when he has to do something that he does bad things. Left to his own devices, he just golfs and yells at the TV. We probably averted war so far because somebody informed him how many more hours of briefings he would have to sit through.
I think it’s better than 50/50 that he can’t golf anymore. His neurological issues are getting increasingly difficult to conceal, and are significant. He can barely walk without help. He released an undated photo of himself golfing recently as a weird show of strength, and everything is a tell.
