The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VI: No Witnesses, One Defector, No Checks or Balances

This wsj editorial has me on monkey tilt

I know, I know… I shouldn’t even engage. But it just feels different seeing this level of post fact gaslighting on wsj vs fox.

The WSJ was Fox before Fox. They had no goddamn idea you could push it so far… but they’ve always been slanted hard right.

Every morning I read the WSJ, it’s the best place for condensed business news. Literally just flip it over to the end of the front page at about A12, haven’t read a single word of the op/ed section in years.

Is there any media outlet with a good op/ed section?

I caught a couple minutes of MSNBC on the radio earlier and Chuck Todd was asking Bernie’s campaign manager (I assume that’s who he was talking to) about Trump coming to Bernie’s defense in regard to the DNC. It’s as if he didn’t understand that Trump’s comments are not made in good faith. All he’s trying to do is plant seeds of doubt and discontent among possible Democratic voters, just like the Biden fake scandal.

Well chuck there’s a very simple defence that will instantly defuse and defang any and all of trumps rhetoric on this topic. Don’t ratfuck bernie.

If anyone wants to know what good attack ads look like… The GOP insurgents are showing us how they would have handled Trump in the general in 2016. Goddamn are they good at this vs Democrats.

This ad is targeted at making hardcore evangelical Christians deal with massive cognitive dissonance… and it works.

Trump tweeted it but Putin wrote it. We already know this because Mueller. Just like we know Trump is gonna claim riggage if he somehow manages to lose.

And then he’s going to refuse to leave… and then it’s going to be about our institutions. If he doesn’t leave and they let him I’ll be moving to another country pretty much immediately, and I’ll get an entirely new line of work that I’m not going to talk about in public. I’ll be making NBZ look super super super chill as a day job though. Fucketh not with the logisticians for we make things happen IRL.

I think him actually getting to stay is basically impossible though. He’s pissed off all the guys with guns he’d need to pull it off. I was really happy to hear about him abusing generals for exactly this reason. I’m also hearing from military freight people that military freight is way off this year because of chaos with approvals and whatnot so even the military industrial complex people are good and sick of him. It turns out the executive branch being competent and keeping things moving is as important to their bottom line as how much they support raising the military budget. It doesn’t do you any good to have it budgeted if it doesn’t get spent because it’s in bureaucratic purgatory.

A lot of you are thinking that these guys are smart enough to steal this election. They definitely aren’t. This administration has zero competent people left in it and logistically speaking stealing the election would be complicated… insanely complicated if you wanted to pull it off without it being incredibly obvious. Lots and lots of moving parts to manipulate.

OMG I can’t stop posting these:

That ad was fired at Corey Gardner 3 weeks ago. That is a high quality attack ad. I’m genuinely looking forward to these people’s work in the general. Somebody tell Mike Bloomberg to back up 10 53’ dry van trailers full of tightly banded 100 dollar bills to their office.

So critiquing this… the poll they show is on and off in a flash and is probably super slanted and months old. I LOVE the mild dishonest of that, this is an attack ad after all. ‘Tough people built our great state and they’ve always fought for what’s right’ (get’s the standard white male GOP voter going ‘Yeah I am tough like the pioneers who built CO’ from his La-Z-Boy covered in Cheeto Dust) then they tie it briefly to him being a Trump toady… and then rapidly call him a servant, weak, frightened, and impotent. A hot sounding woman calling him impotent with maximum scorn. Holy fuck is that amazing.

Then they call him a small man terrified of a political bully and follow it with clips of Trump acting like he owns Gardner’s soul.

I’m just imaging the work they are going to put in vs Trump. He’s going to be on monkey tilt EVERY SINGLE DAY. This is goddamn gold.

This attack ad is like a Max Martin pop single. It follows the formula perfectly, is highly polished, and it sticks to you like napalm long after you experience it even if you kind of hate it. Endless repetition of this kind of material will literally brainwash people. This is how they beat us, and it’s long past time for Democrats to learn how to message like this.

Anyone who thinks this ad isn’t 1000x better than literally any HRC ad of the 2016 cycle isn’t qualified to have an opinion. Like if you don’t see it you should just accept that this is one of those things you don’t understand and let other people tell you what you should think about messaging. It’s OK if that’s you, there are literally hundreds of topics that I pick people’s opinions for rather than having my own opinion because I’m not qualified.

There’s no chance Corey Gardner doesn’t hear this ad in his nightmares. This thing had serious negative ramifications for his mental health lol.

Dude, Dems are not going to win with attack ads.

They are demonstrably effective at suppressing the vote for the other side… so they are absolutely an important tool for winning any election. It’s also an area where we have been absolutely waffle crushed by the GOP since the 60’s.

The reason why attack ads rub you the wrong way is because they have always been deployed against you by the other side to good effect… and now you associate them with the other side and everything that is wrong with politics.

I think that if you want to win you should try to be competitive in every aspect of the game you’re playing. Political campaigns are a game full stop. Refusing to even contend in a not inconsequential part of the game because you feel like it’s beneath you is itself immoral if you think that winning would be a significant positive for the country.

It’s not even like Democrats don’t run attack ads… they just invest very little thought into it because they want to tell themselves it doesn’t matter like you’re doing right here. This is a large blind spot. Ten good ads like this run in the blue wall states in 2016 and Trump isn’t our president today.

Both sides have the same media consultant vulture scumbags. That’s not the answer.

Health Care
Health Care
Health Care
Health Care
Health Care
Drug companies
Wages
Health Care
End Foreign Adventures
Health Care

Is the formula.

The GOP media vulture scumbags are way better at attack ads. Always have been. Their greatest hits roll could be used to teach propaganda 101.

Like consider how good at your job you have to be to get elected with the GOP platform. It’s hugely unpopular and requires a ton of lying without getting exposed.

Then consider how bad you have to be at your job to lose to the guy who is badly outgunned on substance 50% of the time. I’m sorry but they aren’t the same. One side is smart because they have to be, and the other side isn’t.

The reason we all love AOC is because she’s actually good at the game. There’s a reason why the only polling we have on her popularity is kind of trash, Fox spends tons of time vilifying her (so that when their voters inevitably hear her they’ll hopefully be inoculated) and the rest of the corporate media tries not to cover her. It’s because the establishment is terrified that she might break the format.

I hereby nominate Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Piece of Shit Prize.

Dems are gonna blow millions of dollars on attack ads telling us that Trump is a Very Bad Man and then they’re gonna be like confusedpikachu.jpg when all of their voters decide to stay home on election day. They have no message, they don’t give voters any reason to get excited for the Democratic Party. If you’re a Democrat and your ad doesn’t mention healthcare, it sucks and you suck.

And I’m sure Greta could not give two fucks about it as long as governments are still dragging their feet at best and being actively hostile to the Earth at worst.
