It’s not that comparisons to Monarchy are wrong or anything, it’s just that managed ‘Democracy’ is clearly the mode of government on the way up around the world now. Where there are elections but the outcome is pre or post rigged however much it needs to be (depending on local style, history and convenience), and that suits a good proportion of the population just fine, and absolutely those with money and influence. This is a modern thing, not a throwback, and the US might just be at the forefront once again!

The analogy to monarchies goes beyond political power. The worst feature of monarchy is that the ignorant and incompetent children of rulers inherent power they don’t deserve and aren’t capable of wielding for the greater good. This is also a prominent feature of contemporary capitalism where the rich are able to access political power to funnel more of society’s wealth to themselves and their undeserving children. Unchecked inter generational wealth transfers coupled with unchecked wealth inequality results in functional monarchy. Power and influence are handed down to people that didn’t earn, aren’t good at using it, and live in a fantasy that their inherited power and influence are part of the natural order.

Could do without the laughter track.

(edit: I appreciate that it was the studio audience but still)

Don was all like, just wait and see, wait and see the evidence that’s about to drop and nods along as if he knows what’s about to drop… Chris was playing the let’s get at them and not let them not hear you, get out and in there faces was his message.

The GOP is absurdly good at taking simple facts, mischaracterizing them into a simple narrative that makes a Democrat look bad, and ramming it down people’s throats until it becomes publicly accepted fact.

They know that in today’s world it doesn’t matter the degree of the scandal, it matters that you can get the average American to understand it in 15 seconds or less. If you can, you can make the degree of it massive by just hyperventilating about it indefinitely.

Of course, it helps that they have Fox News and the right wing media pumping whatever narrative they want straight into the veins of 40% of Americans, who will give that stuff no critical thought whatsoever.

He tells it like it is!

Add in the UK voters to this too, they don’t need nothing apart from 2/3 word sentence’s… “Get **** Done” is also why TheBern is moving up. So it’s not all on 1 side imo.

I don’t like his tweets but also I believe them and take them as fact. - All boomers that support Trump… probably

My “NeverTrump” (but also Never Hillary and Never Biden) father is always big on having to believe the president until it’s proven otherwise. You have to respect the president and the office and trust that they will do the right thing.

In fairness to him, he’s been the same with all our past presidents - Dubya, Bush 41… Well, you know, some of our past presidents.

But don’t worry, he tells me, no way Trump wins in 2020! Even as he tells me he’ll vote for any Democrat except Biden… yet refuses to register for the Democratic primary.

Arrrrggggh.

Yeah that’s a guy you should stop talking to about politics. He’s going to vote for Trump. Best outcome you could deliver would be him not voting at all.
