Because he doesn’t actually hate Trump. He won’t ever be seriously personally affected by Trump or by the fact that Trump is completely unfit for office.

Few federal politicians actually hate Trump. Most of his policies have no effect on them. None of them have their children in cages, rely on social security, or are without health insurance. Hell, they benefitted from his tax plan. They agree with a good lot of his foreign policy actions. They’ll throw up a tiff just for show but they really don’t mind drone strikes, supporting Israel, or selling weapons to KSA so they can bomb Yemen.
