Glad we have army of Harvard educated whiz kids available to confirm that Trump is indeed a criminal and his defenses aren’t legitimate.

It’s such a ridiculous defense LOL.

The reason most people shouldn’t be president is that at least during their term, that person is now the most accountable person in America. Every word they speak manifests a global butterfly effect.

No matter how reckless a person was before then, if you can’t keep your dick in your pants for at least four years, I’m not saying you should be impeached, but I understand. If you’re willing to quid pro quo foreign interference to get re-elected, impeachment is coming for you. And if you’re willing to incite violence on the eve of your impeachment trial, you definitely should be impeached.

This is what worries me most about authoritarianism. With more AI, more wealth will be concentrated and the Russian oligarch model, (where the only thing that matters is the oligarch paying tribute and their wealth is secure), will be adopted worldwide. With the media and internet completely controlled by security services, there will be no possibility of organised resistance.

I get the sentiment, but it’s better than nothing. If we aren’t willing as a society to violently resist the people who are Orchestrating the destruction of our political institutions, then what else is there for us other than expert bookworms?

I’m not saying Fox is turning, but I was a little surprised at their recent articles covering impeachment. For example:

arguing that Trump used his official powers to pressure Ukraine to interfere in the U.S. presidential election for his personal political gain, and then attempted to cover up his scheme by obstructing Congress’s investigation into his misconduct.

At the heart of the case is Trump’s effort to convince Ukraine to launch investigations into Democrats, while his administration is said to have withheld military aid. Trump denies wrongdoing, while Democrats allege he abused the power of his office.

Adding to the Democrats’ case is a legal opinion Thursday from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) that found the Trump administration broke the law by withholding defense aid to Ukraine. The White House disputed the finding.

In a nod to House Democrats’ evolving case against Trump, the filing references new information that surfaced after the House passed the articles of impeachment in December, including information from Lev Parnas – Rudy Giuliani’s associate – and the finding from the GAO that the Trump administration violated the law when it withheld funds from Ukraine.

“The case against the President of the United States is simple, the facts are indisputable, and the evidence is overwhelming: President Trump abused the power of his office to solicit foreign interference in our elections for his own personal political gain, thereby jeopardizing our national security, the integrity of our elections and our democracy," the seven House managers said in a statement after the filing was made public. “And when the President got caught, he tried to cover it up by obstructing the House’s investigation into his misconduct.”

There is essentially zero rebuttal in these recent articles.

I suppose they’re slightly better than nothing. But their breathless commentary is getting really old. It would be really nice if they collectively ever took the next step and demonstrated awareness that the law is failing us completely right now.

Absolutely zero expertise is required to see that mandating literally everyone associated with you defy subpoenas while crying about due process is garbage.

Farmers in Austin?

I mean I’ve never been there but I was pretty sure that Austin’s a pretty progressive blue spot with more of an IT industry than a farming community.

Bondi: Well, we’re gonna hear what Gordon Sondland has to say today. He was ambassador for a short while.

Dokoupil: What does the president say?

Bondi: The president … he was ambassador to the Ukraine. He is ambassador to the Ukraine. And the president knows him. The president doesn’t know him very well. He’s a short term ambassador, of course he knows him.

Only the best people

I don’t get what’s in it for Nunes to get caught up in this mess. Why did this happen?

Access to power. Plain and simple.
