The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VI: No Witnesses, One Defector, No Checks or Balances

I’m not talking about impeachment, though. Just whether the trial will have key witnesses.

Without those key witnesses, there is zero chance anything happens.

So I’m just focused on whether the witnesses happen. Then worry about the next step if we cross that bridge.

I was checking up on the Senate rules procedures and think I found out why the House is suddenly working on sending things to the Senate: McConnell backs measure to change Senate rules, dismiss impeachment without articles

I really wish she’d call their bluff and make them change the rules before just giving in but baby steps I guess.

The point of Nancy’s minor shenanigans was to highlight Mitch’s major shenanigans. At this point, you are pretty much maxed out on the number of people that you can get to care about Mitch’s majors shenanigans, which is about 52%.

Holding the articles way longer just converts Nancy shenanigans from minor to major, meaning that then BOTH SIDES are engaging in major shenanigans, which peels off 1 or 2% of the idiot “independents” (like my father) who were with you on the minor shenanigans to call out major shenanigans, and takes you down from 52% to 50%.

Of course the underlying and insanely frustrating problem is that Trump’s deplorable supporters are so perfectly located strategically that a ~52% to ~45% advantage on ~every issue, including this one, still shuts us out of power.

I’m talking about the fact that there seems to be some genuine surprise that Pelosi is taking the worst possible line here. There shouldn’t be. It’s basically par for the course and has been for a long time.

Typical folks that don’t trust the government but enjoy a good conspiracy. Wonder if those mental defects are related?

I wonder how many other Senators we have that I’ve never fucking heard of.

Mr. Kasparov has their m.o. nailed down. And the media only lets them get away with it, they actively facilitate it.

I am not surprised, I just had a sliver of hope we might see a change of spirit from dem leadership. But it is not there.

As others regularly point out the party leadership is not much different from the Republican Party leadership, which is a big problem because it seems a civil war is needed within the party but it could not be a worse time for that then over the next year. So I don’t know how the move forward with awful leadership which directly oppose the progressive parts of the party and move forward.

To me this all adds up to another likely failure in the November election.

I think the best hope is Bernie winning the nom and presidency and then basically reshaping the party in his own image Trump style. That seems like an enormous long shot but it is probably our only shot.

Bernie isn’t mean enough. He’s the best option, but we ultimately need someone who will go full General Sherman. Salt in the fields shit.

It’s unclear exactly how many countries would be included in the expansion, but two of the people said that seven countries — a majority of them Muslim — would be added to the list. The most recent iteration of the ban includes restrictions on five majority-Muslim nations: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen, as well as Venezuela and North Korea.

“Tucker Carlson is an outlier,” said Fred Fleitz, a former National Security Council chief of staff under the Trump administration. “I don’t think he represents the Republican Party or conservatives.”
