I am not sure but I doubt that is how the constitution lays it out. I suspect it is a requisite to receive the articles of impeachment from the House first. They likely can not take any sort of binding vote before then.

The good thing about delay is it involves INACTION so accusations they could be doing other things while not submitting articles of impeachment won’t make sense.

The Founding Fathers didn’t really flesh it out all that much:

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

That’s all they wrote.

I hope Cocaine Mitch will respect the will of the people and get back to work. There are approximately 10000 bills passed in the House this year that are awaiting action in the Senate.”

I like this. “The Senate has a massive backlog of legislation we have passed for the American people and we feel the Senate must expeditiously address all those important issues before we pass even more into them.”

Make a Trump move and show a big stack of empty folders that you claim are all of the bills Mitch refuses to let the Senate vote on. Post that photo over and over every time you make a comment.

Doesn’t matter what the senate republicans say. If people are worried that the democrats will lose on messaging they have a right to be scared because it is not capable of being lost. It would require total incompetence by dems to lose the messaging on this regardless of pivot. If that happens we were already laying dead.

Stand and salute

Sure it’s nice. But 2016 was essentially people voting on Trump as a human being and he won.

Old white people have way more time to spare voting than groups that would support a removal from office.

That said, I will derive quite a lot of schadenfreude watching Trump blow up each time an article is added to the list.

Yeah if they can turn every republican complaint into an opportunity to note how much good they are trying to do for America with passed legislation it just piles on.

The multi pronged strategy to ensnare senate republicans is crystal clear. Still concerned democrats can pull it off.

Fingers crossed but so far so good. The recent news cycle covering the origins of the Trump investigation (not talking about the actual content of the IG report which was actually pretty good for out side… I’m talking about how it’s been covered) makes me pretty glad we didn’t try to impeach on the Russia stuff.

Combine that with Pelosi figuring out how to reduce them to gibbering rage by not transmitting and I’m starting to be moderately optimistic she knows what she’s doing.
