sorry for stella spam but grue’s loss has me worried about how i’ll deal with it if i lose this gal. man at this exact moment I’m not sure I could deal with it. she’s only been back for a few months and i can’t really imagine it.
i said upthread but we never have previously lived 24/7 in such close quarters and it’s funny. we have a new routine. she typically follows me throughout the house and lays next to me looking at me like this:
sometimes she squeaks, sometimes no, if petting doesn’t work (gotta be careful to watch for when she says “that’s enough” or you get nipped) then gotta check food/water/litter typically, usually those are fine, and finally I figured out she just likes to chatter with me. sometimes if she’s not near me at night i’ll hear crying and it won’t stop til I call out to her. this cat imprinted v hard on me and it’s sweet. i used to hate how she always wanted to be around me but now it’s endearing. lots of times she’ll put a paw on my shoulder for some reason.
if anyone knows of a good harness that i can put on her that won’t involve man handling her I really would like to start taking her outdoors - bit reticent to do that since she may want out all the time if I do it once, but it feels a little cruel leaving her locked up in here with me all the time.
I’m kind of 2 minds on the harness walks, it really helped both of them get exercise and tire them out and then not demand as much attention/play, but they both demanded it every day, often several times per day. But if you have the time (no kids) its probably better than not. If/when I get more cats I’ll probably try it again. Their harnesses are the only thing we haven’t put away =/
i just can’t physically get it on her is the issue. im fine with taking her out multiple times a day. she’s fine if I say no to her too - she whines a bit then gives up.
stepped away from laptop and left it on my bed this morning and came back 10 mins later. Stella submitted her feedback and she seems displeased.
little shithead, we’ve been training not to walk all over my keyboard which she loves doing, because she broke a key once and will enable weird settings I can’t figure out how to turn off. Whenever she really wants to piss me off she’ll try it. cat cracks me up
she was trying but she gets over stimulated very quickly and I think it’s just a reflex. she also nips sometimes and it’s not aggression, just an overstimulation thing.
My last cat, Omega (rip) was awesome and played rough. She loved to wrap her paws around your fist and bite down. If you submitted she would give you love licks. I used to sleep on a futon and she would wake me up in the morning by scratching my toes. They really do take on our personalities.
Miss that cat. She pooped outside. Hunted down waterbugs in my downtown apartment. She would point them even before the chase, emitting this strange, hollow sounding, clicking rhythm.
Hunted birds in trees. Was smart enough to retreat up a tree when facing a larger foe and meow until I came out to get her. She was an outside cat and would be gone for days at a time. Would spend time with unknown neighbors who I would later socialize with and hear stories of her by other names. That little slut.
had a bit of a light hoarding situation and got the house all cleared out this week in prep for my surgery, this sweet girl is stressed about the changes and appetite has been low, but she’s been attached to the couch in this spot:
