The Pets of Unstuck

Too tired to figure how to post video here or figure out how to convert a short video into a gif, but take my word for it, poppy the chihuahua putting on the breaks at the threshold after seeing several inches of snow on the porch is hilarious.

The cancer spread aggressively to the mouth and she’s been bleeding for a few weeks, but today was really bad. First time she’s had problems even standing, etc. Doc told us it was time. Got almost an extra year with our sweet Olive after her hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Our vet has already recommended the turkey tail mushrooms to other patients, so it gives me some peace knowing it might give others extra time with their loved ones. Hold your pets extra tight tonight for us. Thank you all for the well wishes and good vibes over the last year. Much love.

Rant/vent incoming:

So frustrated with vet care right now. My dog has been “not right” for a month now, and over a week ago she stopped eating regularly. The vets (two different ones!) can’t find anything in blood work or xrays and keep sending me home with different drugs, “oh try this, try that” and I keep trying to schedule an ultrasound and they tried to tell me that the soonest they could do was March 22nd. I went to one of them and went in physically and actually yelled enough that they were able to schedule it for Friday, but I’m so tired of being nickel and dimed by them just throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks.

I’m pissed I didn’t insist from the start for them to admit her and diagnose her right away. Now she’s lost a bunch of weight and the reason i was able to get an earlier appointment was that I told them I literally wouldn’t have a dog by Mar 22nd.

Anyway, just like human medicine, it seems that vets refuse to listen to those who know their pets best, and instead go right for whatever’s more convenient for them (there must be one ultrasound person in all of SD county, for the way all these places are booked so far out) and makes the most money.

Anyway, could use some good vibes for my kiddo. I’m literally force feeding her broth and baby food via syringe like they feed baby animals in the zoo and she hates it.

Have you tried feeding her chicken and rice?

Pumpkin mixed in helps as well.

Try to find a specialty vet with high end Docs. Well worth the extra $ when something weird is going on. For Jakes protein enteropathy we go to place that has 24 hour ER, plus every specialty you can imagine.

Best of luck

It’s stomach cancer, spread to the lymph nodes. Just like human stomach cancer, it is aggressive and fatal.

Wednesday is our appointment to say goodbye. She is only 8. We were supposed to have a few more years, at least.

Blah, I’m sorry bud, I can’t imagine. I cannot imagine it. Enjoy every second.

So very sorry. Dammit.

It’s below zero here today - even in Fahrenheit! Good day to make a circle in the dog bed.
