The Pets of Unstuck

She would get killed. The turkeys are bigger than her.

He likes the snow.

I have a view of an open area and it’s pretty cool to see dogs out there after a fresh batch of snow.

Do you ever get grief over the pinch collar? I used one on my Belgian sheepdog and aussie mix 20 years ago and tried it out on myself before subjecting them to it–it was not painful at all, but people freak out over them now. Dog rescue places would probably deny your application over it now. My wife had to sign an agreement that they would use two leashes during the trial period and no pinch or choke collars to get their current dog. I immediately took the second leash off and my son reminded me about the agreement. I told him I didn’t sign it and I don’t blindly follow stupid rules put in place by idiots who don’t know how to properly walk dogs. Rescue orgs are so full of themselves these days I’m open to going to a breeder to avoid their condescending bullshit.

Go get your pooch and get pics. We will wait.

Olive has to have another surgery tonight. Been bleeding from her mouth for days only to discover this thing;

Good vibes appreciated. She’s coming up on 12 years old.

Out of surgery. Doc thinks it’s the hemangiosarcoma that spread to the gums. She’s staying overnight and should be able to come home tomorrow. We’ve had a lot more time with her since the diagnosis than I thought we would. Going to continue to spoil her and love on her every chance I get.

As always with this thread, just look at the pictures. Don’t read the words.

My sister put her dog down today. She got Kiley as a pup her senior year of college, and Kiley just celebrated her 12th birthday. She’s had Kiley her entire adult life.

Kiley had been lethargic and… just off, so they took her to the vet on Thursday and found she was anemic, with a hematocrit of 22%. The vet said it could either be a GI bleed, liver failure, or bone marrow cancer. We could do an ultrasound for 1k to help find out, but that wouldn’t fix the problem So she went home with an anti-ulcer preparation and a follow up appointment on Monday.

She got worse the last couple days, so they took her in again today, and her hematocrit dropped to 14%… which is basically not compatible with life. A blood transfusion could help, but if she was actively bleeding somewhere then it would just be delaying the inevitable. So they decided it was time. We were all there to say goodbye, but I think my mom and I were more there for my sister… who is understandably heartbroken.

This is the picture she took for Kiley’s 12th birthday, with the caption “12 years of perfecting ‘the look’ to get ALL the treats!”

She had a full and good life filled with love, which is all any mammal can hope for in this world.
