The NHL Thread: It’s Back

Pens so talented.

This crowd is loud AF for not being a full building.

God the Penguins defense is such garbage. Constant idiotic turnovers.

You just tuned in to see the Leafs lose in the playoffs?

I kind of want the Leafs to win because this Leafs team has been built on actual skill and not Good Old Canadian Boy stupidity. Having said that, a Leafs collapse is always very, very funny. 2013 is my favorite.

I want the Habs to win Saturday when they play at home in front of some fans but for the longterm its better they lose the series. If they somehow survive they never get rid of MB. That guy has no idea how to build a team in todays environment.

Their young forwards actually seem pretty great. Suzuki and Caufield and Kotkaniemi all look like they have potential.

Their defense looks really old fashioned and slow. They need to figure out how to develop Romanov.

Goaltending is a problem too. Price is still ok, but he’s no longer consistently elite but he gets paid like he is. That’s tough on cap management.

Oldie, but a goodie:

I’ve seen that before. My favorite part is number 42 heading to the kitchen for more beer after the 4-4 goal.

I like how the women are all smiling right after the game-winner.

The narrative that is forming is that Marner and Matthews choked, which is understandable. They get paid the most and if they don’t score then losses are going to fall on them. That’s part of the deal when you take the $10+ million per year and handcuff the team with salary cap inflexibility.

I watched all the games and based on the eye test it seemed to me that Campbell is not catching enough criticism. Some momentum changing Montreal goals were very soft IMO. But I may be spoiled by a decade+ of watching Henrik Lundqvist game after game.

I think the Leafs will feel pressure to shake things up and they will have to do something. I can see a desperation play like trading Marner to the Islanders for Varlamov and some pieces. It usually doesn’t make sense to make that kind of move with an elite scoring talent but the Leafs defense and goaltending and secondary scoring were all gaping holes in the series. With Tavares presumably coming back at full strength, they can probably sacrifice Marner and give Nylander a bigger role.

4 more wins. :smirk:

Apparently they won the only trophy they had never won (Campbell) as “western conference” champs.

The had less wins but one more point than the flyers. But it’s Covid so as (self appointed by unanimous vote) commissioner I will approve the cup wo an *

Mon beat Tor and LV, and if they win the finals, what more could they do?

good luck bro, hoping for a good series. and of course, a Tampa Bay repeat, but good luck. :grinning:

How do you only have 18 shots in a hockey game?
