The NHL Thread: It’s Back

Honestly, Bettman comes off looking not terrible to me. Looks like he forced Quenneville to resign, hopefully the same will happen to Cheveldayoff.

Jonathan Toews, though, can go fuck himself with a rusty axe.

I don’t know. I think the team fine is like lol $2M and here he leaves the door open to Queenville coaching again.

Worthy of taking names off the cup IMO. But then again I fucking hate the Blackhawks.

“While on some level, it would be easiest to paint everyone with any association to this terrible matter with the same broad brush, I believe that fundamental fairness requires a more in-depth analysis of the role of each person,” said Commissioner Gary Bettman. “Kevin Cheveldayoff was not a member of the Blackhawks senior leadership team in 2010, and I cannot, therefore, assign to him responsibility for the Club’s actions, or inactions. He provided a full account of his degree of involvement in the matter, which was limited exclusively to his attendance at a single meeting, and I found him to be extremely forthcoming and credible in our discussion.”

Jarrod and Erin Skalde sued the Penguins nearly a year ago in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton coach Clark Donatelli molested Erin Skalde during an outing on a road trip in 2018.

They also allege that current Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin, who was GM for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and assistant GM for the Penguins at the time, asked Jarrod Skalde to keep the reason for Donatelli’s termination quiet and that the team punished Skalde for reporting the assault and later terminated his position under the guise of pandemic-related staff cuts.

Lots of idiots with senior management positions in the NHL that somehow always find the wrong thing to do.

Could probably modify “in the NHL” to “fucking everywhere”.

Thank god they got Stan Bowman out as GM for the USA Olympic team. Who they gonna go to?

I’m of 2 minds with the name on the Cup thing.

  1. The BHs should be forced to keep it as a reminder. You submitted his name knowing who he was. You fucking keep him.
  2. XXXXX out his name, but also the whole management team. Every non-player. Fuck you, that’s why.

I was initially surprised Q got the boot. Didn’t think Bettman had the stones. But considering Q let the guy back in his locker room. Fuck him.

steak dinners is the secret sauce obv

The assholes that covered it up are almost as bad…

In some cases probably as bad, look at the bishops and up that systematically covered for priests and moved them around. I’m firmly convinced that’s why Benedict “retired”.

Actually a pretty good haul considering they are trading broken goods. Also they’ve been playing much better this year without him. They do really need some better goaltending though.

Solid trade for Buffalo. Big gamble for Vegas.

I can see the rationale for Vegas though. They’ve been a cup contender for a few years and have loaded up on some good players through trades and free agency (Stone, Pacioretty, Pietrangelo). They’ve got the core to go for a Cup right now. Even if Eichel were to make it back for just the playoffs that’s huge for them, and they have their core locked up a few years (except Pacioretty, who is only signed thru 22-23).

To end up with the Pu-Pu Platter isn’t good
Considering they tanked a season and got Eichel instead of McDavid, can’t say it worked out well for them.

You certainly could say that things haven’t worked out well for the Sabres, including the last decade or two.

Not sure it’s technically tanking to just be the worst always, but yah, obviously it was a lose/lose situation, and they were always going to get pennies on the dollar for Eichel once things turned to shit.

Seems like consensus is they might have gotten a few more pennies had they moved him at draft time, but it was honestly a bit better than I expected. Looks like a trade that legit makes sense for both sides. Hope Jack grows from the whole experience and gets healthy. Or not. It’s complicated.

I could do that. Sadly need to add a fermentable carbohydrate (starch/sugar), but otherwise the nutrition for yeast growth is probably there.

breaking news: Adam Larsson is at 25/100 career goals.
